Excellent knife, great price!
Very well made, sharp chef’s knife. Has quickly become my “go to” knife in the kitchen. Handle is comfortable and robust. Works well, with my large Hands. Price is very reasonable.

It is sharp
I bought the Mercer Knife to replace my other two knives I've have for 10+ years. I only used it once, to cut some parsley. It's very nice to have a knife that cuts herbs, and not squish and bruise it. Even after sharpening my old knives, they still wouldn't cut parsley the way the Mercer knife does. It is definately a good entry level knife to hone in your knife skills and pinch grip, without killing the bank.I'm no professional, but I do love to cook. I like that it gives me the confidence to better my pinch grip. Not gonna lie, I was a bit skeptical about the handle, not being wood, boy I was wrong. It feels great in my hand and the balance is great. It is light in weight, but has enough weight to slice easily through herbs, and still have complete control. I can see it slicing through potatoes and other harder root vegetables eith ease. There's enough weight so you won't have to press hard, just let the knife do its job.I highly recommend this knife and I know what knife I'll get when I have to replace mine. I'm hoping I won't have to for a long while. Thank you for my beautiful knife.

Great - Would Buy Again
I own multiple Mercer knives and I am not disappointed. I use my knives, I sharpen my knives and they have held up over the years. They hold their edge provided right angle. I have been in multiple large scale kitchens and I see Mercer knives all over so value, durability and performance are there. Don't waste your money on other options if you want something that works and works well - buy this instead.

Great value.
It is not a four hundred dollar individually hand forged knife. But it performs way above its price class. This is the 6inch chef knife. I have an 8 inch. made in Japan, that I did pay close to $400. But I am not ashamed to use a five dollar plastic handle paring knife in my kitchen. I wanted a shorter knife for general purpose slicing and chopping. I have a Mercer M24307PL that works great, but it is a bit longer than 6 inches, and is a Japanese style utility knife, sharpened on one side only--the wrong side for a lefty like me. This one M20606, is a true Western style 6 inch chef blade (more curve and ends with a point) with a good gripping rubberized handle, comfortable to use with a pinch grip. I don't know what the complaints about sharpness are about. This one sliced paper in repeated narrow curved strips and dry shaved the hair on my arm.right out of the plastic display wrapper. The blade is marked high carbon German steel, x50CrMo v16 and the NSF seal. A much better knife than what you get with the famous German brands for less money.

Good for the price
For such a low price, it's a decent knife. I wouldn't use this as my main chef's knife. The balance feels off to me, and it's a bit difficult to cut through tough things like carrots and onions. I don't think it holds an edge as well as my more expensive one either. However, it works fine as a second knife for when I have help in the kitchen. It cuts through most foods without any trouble and holds an edge fairly well. If you're looking for an inexpensive chef's knife, this one works.

Perfect size, very controllable, high quality, buy it.
Very nice, super sharp. Great grip, washes easily. Seems like high quality and it looks great. Replacing one I lost, and already remember how much I like this size knife.

Overall a great and light chef knife
I love that the dimples ("granton edge") make vegetables not stick to this as much as a traditionally shaped chef knife and that it is sturdy but very light. This is very quickly become my go-to for dinner prep.

Fantastic Knife!
Bought several of the Mercer Genesis series as a gift, and am SUPER impressed with them!A chef told me about Mercer knives, and their high quality offerings. I have used Wusthof knives for many years, and really like them, however they are really expensive. Mercer seems to have similar steel characteristics, and I love the feel and grip of their Genesis series handles! As with many companies, Mercer makes various quality knives, and some of their lower end stuff I was not particularly impressed with (cheap handles, and non-German steel). The fantastic German steel of the Mercer "Genesis" series gets my highest rating. Very sharp, holds and edge well. The knives are made in Taiwan, out of high grade German cutlery steel (and tooling techniques), which brings the price WAY down, but maintains an absolutely fantastic knife. The quality is impeccable. They come with a limited lifetime warranty.I highly recommend Mercer "Genesis" series knives. Super high quality German steel, fantastic handles, and look amazing - all at a very reasonable cost.
