I Needed Larger CNC spindle motor. This one is it!
In the past I purchased a small DIY hobby CNC with thoughts of cutting copper printed circuit boards. The motor that came with my original CNC was just to small to have enough power to cut the copper foil on the PC boards. I went looking for a larger motor. That was when I found the 500 Watt spindle motor kit. This motor kit solved two of my machine problems. The motor is much more powerful than my original one, and it came with the proper larger power supply to control it. I like being able to use the software to control a relay so I can start/stop the motor from the software (just removed the jumper on the on/off input and connected the relay to it). I extended the potentiometer wiring and mounted it on the front control panel for speed control. Just now modifying the Z-axis bracket to hold the larger motor. Will add pictures when completed.

FALSE ADVERTISING!
I'll be honest, up until today I was generally happy with the product. But today I needed to do some maintenance on the product, i.e. dust and metal flakes were starting to build up in the housing so I needed to open it up and clean it out. The first thing I noticed is that one of the brushes were broken. So after cleaning it out, I came back to this product page to inquire about where I could get replacement brushes. Then I remembered that I bought this spindle because it was advertised as a brushless spindle. So why are there brushes in a brushless spindle?Currently in the process of contacting the seller to take care of this MAJOR ISSUE as well as the false advertisement. I will update this after we see what happens. Very very very disappointed.

Works, not ideal though
Pro: works, the motor itself is very nicely balancedCons: plastic blower cap required some balancing, heats up like crazy, even when running it without load. Not nearly powerful as spec'd: 100v * 4a (controller rated max) = 400w, theoretical max, not stated 500w...Ended up running it from a proper, non pulsating DC power supply at 65v/3.5a, works as expected.

Incorrect in Picture Description
I just received and opened the box. Found that the 4 holes on spindle clamp is NOT the same as in picture description. The distance between two holes for long side is actually 70mm, while the distance for the short side is actually 20mm. The screws are M6, which I think is not specified in the description. Also, the holes are not manufactured well; there is a 0.5mm missalignment for one side. Meaning if you have a perfect 20x70mm clamp base, your spindle will NOT be 90 degree vertical. Not yet test the motor. Will update here if needed.

You get what you pay for
So i purchased this before i had completed building my CNC. I wanted to make sure the mount hole lined up on my prints. I finally have everything together and tested with a pen attachment, time to hook up the spindle. Started for 15-30secs and the fuse popped. Unhooked the motor and replaced the fuse. Then i plugged it back in and tested each connection with a multi-meter. First thing i found is the picture of the wiring for the AC input is incorrect. If it is wired as per the picture (because no instructions are provided) it reverses the +/- poles on the motor output. Swap the AC around and the poles are now correct according to the picture.Regardless whether or not the switch jumper is in place, constant DC output is applied to the motor. The potentiometer does not adjust the voltage. If load is applied to the motor output, it will pop the fuse. So right now i don't know if its the motor that is defective or the power supply. Oh well, because i ordered it a while ago, i cannot get a refund.Avoid this product at all costs, buyer beware

Works as expected
This is a brushed, permanent magnet motor. I clicked it at just over 12,000rpm. The power supply comes with a potentiometer to control the speed, or it can be controlled by a voltage, 0-10v. Im using it with my grbl cnc board so it required a PWM to Voltage converter board to control the speed through grbl.

The hole pattern doesnt match the item drawing
I am so irritated. After spending over 16 hours 3D printing a block for my Z axis to mount the motor to I find out the the drawing on the motor mount has the wrong bolt pattern. The drawing says 75mm x 25mm but the actual part measures 70mm x 20mm so now I have to make the Z axis over and I have already pressed in the bearings so now the only way to get them out is to cut it apart and hope I don't damage the bearings. If you buy this item DO NOT make anything for mounting the motor until you receive it and you physically measure the item you received don't trust the drawing.
