Busted knee? You want this. Here's how to order the right size, how to put it on, and how long it takes to break in...
I totally blew my knee out during Krav Maga class by landing off-balance on my left leg. I never had a knee injury before so it was a new experience. I couldn't even put any weight on it without it feeling like my leg was going to separate at the knee. We went to the local Walgreens and got a basic pair of crutches and the best knee brace they had on the shelf, which is the Mueller Hinged Wraparound Knee Brace, Black, Lg . I wore that one for about 5 days before it started to feel like it wasn't giving me much support, no matter how much I tightened it. I was getting into my car and moved my leg just right (or just wrong) and tweaked my knee again, even with the brace on. Knowing that my knee is worth the expense to keep from re-injuring it, I ordered this Shock Doctor knee brace and was thankful that Amazon has Sale Day delivery in my area. ++++ HOW TO ORDER THE RIGHT SIZE ++++ Be sure to order the right size! ** Ignore the note about it running small! You want to err on the side of it being small because it does stretch and break in! ** In case you need it, here are the sizes: S = 12.25" - 13.25" M = 13" - 14" L = 13.75" - 14.75" XL = 14.5" - 15.5" XXL = 15.25" - 16.25" My upper calf is 15" in diameter 2" below the kneecap as instructed to measure, so I ordered a Large. Yes, it was a tad small, but it worked out for me. ++++ HOW TO PUT IT ON ++++ To install it, slide it over your leg like you would anything else. It will feel VERY tight in the calf area. Grab the sides of the top opening where the little grippers are and pull it on until it is in place, then wrap the straps around accordingly. YOU WANT IT TO BE TIGHT IN THE CALF THE FIRST TIME YOU WEAR IT! It will seem like it is way too small the first day. Also, the straps that wrap around the back of your knee feel like they are digging in the back of your leg. Adjust them once in a while or put a think piece of cloth on the back of your knee for a while. After a while, they break in as well. Day 1 - will feel very tight. Day 2 - will still feel very snug, but more comfortable. Day 3 - you can wear this all day and not even think about it. It definitely needs time to break in and stretch to fit your leg, but once it does, it is awesome. ++++ THE SUPPORT IS GREAT! ++++ So let's talk about the most important part...THE SUPPORT... The first time I put it on and tightened the straps down, I felt like I could do jumping jacks on a sprained knee. Of course, I knew better...but it feels VERY solid and VERY secure. It drastically helped me get back to walking around and building strength in my knee again. I suppose the only downside, other than the break-in period, is the confidence it gives you that if you are not careful, you can start acting "normal", overdo it and hurt your leg again. Remember, it is just a support and not something built by Tony Stark. Also, you cannot bend your leg fully as the straps in the back get in the way, but if you are wearing this, you probably shouldn't be bending your leg that far anyway. Of course, everyone's injuries and body structure is different so your results may vary, but this was without a doubt the best I could buy for my injury and to avoid injuring it again.

and it proved very annoying as most days I would be bedridden and in ...
I have nurological disorder that causes leg tremors and occasional dystonia that sprained my knee. It both hyper-extends my leg and puts torque force on the knee. Every week I would re-injure myself, and it proved very annoying as most days I would be bedridden and in pain. The knee brace provided enough support that no amount of torque or hyper-extention caused me more injury. I am proud to have no more sprains after buying this product. It's a solid product, I've put it through the ringer with my disability, but it's still held up. I thought that I would break the stitching on the holes to pull the brace on. Stitching in these places are normally overlooked, and I'm not gentle with my things. Yet still, after repeted use, all of the stitching in every place has held fast. I'm quite amazed. That being said, I do have a few complaints. It took me a long time to figure out the method to strap it. It was not intuitive at all, and because of the neurological condition, reading the diagrams was difficult. Because of this I thought, at first, the product was too small. I almost thought to exchange it for a larger size, but I figured it out. So it is a rather complicated strapping system. I also discovered that this is a product I want to wear leggings, or a cotton sleeve of some sort under. Without a cotton barrier between my skin and the brace, my skin would break out in a pretty bad rash. I'm thankful that the brace fits well enough to allow a thin cotton sleeve under it, and as long as I wear that, I've had no more rash problems. I highly recommend this product to anyone suffering from a knee problem, whether ongoing or short term. Despite the problems I had (which are rather minor in the scheme of things) It still has held up so well speaking to the quality. The fact that I've been sprain free since I received this in the mail speaks to it's design.

Strong support for knee pain
This knee brace gives solid support and feels stable because of the adjustable hinges. It is useful for knee pain, workouts, or extra support while walking. It may feel a little bulky, but the support is good.

Absolutely amazing!
I injured my knee(ACL/PCL) about a year ago. I had opted out of surgery since the doctor recommended against it. I had gone through a few different braces of different styles from different companies. None of them really provided me with the support I liked. I never felt confident in them. I stumbled across this brace while browsing through my recommendations from Amazon. I figured what the hell and purcahsed it. I ordered the large, like I had with all my other braces prior. It is a very very snug/tight fit, especially above the knee. Thankfully Shock Doctor had the pull up tabs/loops, otherwise I'd be having a tough time getting this properly on. No other brace I had, had those and they make a world of a different while putting this on. I love the X strap system they use on the back. To me, it really gave me support I wasn't expecting to get, especially from a 'lower budget' brace. The hinges were beefier than my older braces as well and didn't have any side to side motion, very solid. You do notice it on you. You do feel the added thickness/heaviness this gives you when on the leg. It isn't distracting and doesn't hamper your movement, atleast not for me. It really made me feel confident and the support I had was great. My sport is Soccer. Since buying this brace I haven't been able to use it in practice or a game or even just messing around. I had the chance to use it playing some 2 on 2 basketball and felt very confident in my abilities. This brace is well worth the money and honestly the price could be increased. It is really that good of a brace. I don't use it so much since my knee seems to be getting much better now, but I still won't play any sports without it. Definitely buy this if you're looking at it. Only suggest I can give you is this. If you're looking at a L and don't want to struggle pulling it up into position(cause this brace is very snug on your knee) then get the size above it.

Great brace
I was a bit concerned when this brace arrived because of the thickness. I previously purchased the shock doctor brace that has the metal bands on each side which lasted me since 2018 and was very happy with it. I decided to try this one because it had the hinges on it as opposed to the metal bands and that is why I was a bit concerned. My previous Shock Doctor braces were large so I went with a large. Not sure why a bunch of folks are saying there are sizing issues. My measurements are the same as the measurements of the brace. I tried it on and it fit snug as expected. I walked around with it to see how the mobility was/is with it and at first it seemed a bit stiff but, after a short time I became more accustomed to it. The brace came off as easy as it went on which goes against some comments about it being hard to take off. I put it on this am and it fit over my work pants with room to spare. I was concerned about my perception of the width due to the hinges but, it does not seem to be a problem. Maybe if you wear "skinny" pants this won't work but, if you wear normal fitting pants you should be fine. It is comfortable to wear thus far. I will update if anything changes with comfort after my work shift but, otherwise I am very pleased with this purchase and am a shock doctor customer for life. Just an update on the brace...... I finished a 12 hour shift and had zero issues. The brace actually got more comfortable as the day went on. I was up and down flights of stairs most of the day as well as walking on uneven surfaces and the brace gave my knee great support. From being a bit skeptical when this arrived to being a total fan took Lee's than 12 hours. If you need a knee replacement like I do and need additional support until surgery occurs you should give shock doctor a try.

Great quality but didn't fit around knee cap
Quality is nice. But disappointed. Measured accurately but didn't fit right. Fit quad and calf but even with adjustments the knee cap area was loose. If I sized down the rest wouldn't fit.. also wish it had more pad or gel at the knee cap. Will be returning.

Good support adjustable.
If you think you need this you probably do but order it now because it takes a while to get to you. Good support!

Saved me from a sure total tear
So I never really thought to write a review on this. I had some previous knee injuries and started wearing this brace for the last 10 years maybe 8 years. Well this year I was like maybe I don't need to wear it and outdoor anymore only indoor. Well I kept wearing it and this past week I went to get the ball and my foot got tangled in a couple players which was fine. But a very Reckless player that was at least 100 lb more than I am ran into me from behind and I went flying and my knee and Ankle twisted as I flew sideways while my leg was locked. This knee brace pretty much saved what could have been a stretcher situation to a sore near that hopefully will only require 3 weeks rest. It does smell really quickly so if they could maybe add something into the material to make it less stinky that would be great. If you are reading this and you manage a soccer team, make sure you tell your new players and the adult leagues that they're not going to get drafted and they need to chill out and not hurt people.

Hugging knee brace.
Very useful, comfortable and adjustable brace for my Osteoarthritis Knee joint. Checks limited hyperextension. Helps to stay away from surgery.

When metal hinges can hurt more than they help.
I bought a pair of the 875s thinking the metal hinges would provide better support for my knees during exercise. It didn't quite turn out that way. From its first use, I encountered 2 problems which caused me more pain; 1) Despite the padding around the metal hinges, the pressure of the hinged joint on my inner left knee made using it uncomfortable. If this is the injured part of your knee like mine is, you will not enjoy the added pressure on it. 2) The stitching directly behind the outer pull tab (where the 875 label is) is abrasive. So much so that after an hour's brisk walk, I had a 1cm cut on my right thigh. I needed a bandaid over the cut the 2nd time I used the braces. This time, my left thigh suffered a similar cut. I subsequently used the 875s without the metal hinges. The first problem was immediately resolved. And since I was able to apply a tighter (and more comfortable) wrap around my thighs without the hinges, the stitching no longer had the same abrasive effect against my skin. I've since been using the 875s without the hinges. Pity about the unused metal hinges. I could have saved some money and purchased braces without them. Now I know...

For the price this is excellent
I got an ACL injury. I work as a labourer in the construction sector, moving heavy objects most days. The Shock Doctor brace was my second choice after a German brand, however delivery times were unacceptable as I needed it urgently or I wouldn't be able to work. After 2 months of daily use for 10 hours a day, I can say it's borne the stress very well, is comfortable all day, provides very good support and it has allowed me to start healing my knee injury successfully. It's well made and has not deteriorated yet. It may not be the lowest profile however it fits under baggy work trousers just fine. The articulation is rigid enough but allows for movement without restriction or discomfort. The knee pad is very comfortable all day and keeps the knee straight to allow for recovery. I lift 30 kilo objects for hours a day and carry loads and my knee is able to cope. I recommend this knee brace especially for the price vs quality and features. I followed the advice on sizing and measurement and the brace fit very well. It does not restrict blood flow and does not overtly mark the skin. Well done Shock Doctor.
