I hope Doctor's Best makes this 5-HTP with B6 and C for the rest of my life. I try to be holistic as possible about managing my ADD and occasionally I can get into depression when events are transitioning. I have come so far but this supplement really, really helps. 5-HTP leads to more melatonin production which can help you sleep and therefore more have more energy during the day. It doesn't make me quite as fatigued as a melatonin supplement but 200mgs an hour before bed does help me relax and stay asleep which means more REM so this has really improved my ability to function and the stability of my mood. I also realized that after a decade of being on birth control pills it had really thrown my hormones out of whack. So many doctors have said, oh no, pills are tested you are fine with long term use but I finally met a dual holistic / medical doctor who specializes in female health and pills actually can throw off your hormones. It takes 3 months off of them to see how you are without them fully. I have one more month to go but already I think it has made a huge difference. We will see if I need these come month 4 but either way they are a life saver for now :). I also should say that I tried lots of different brands and types before finding these. Not all are created equal and some have different effects. Like the 200mg extended release from vitacost keeps me awake at night so try one until you figure out what works for you. I recommend this one of course!

I bought these as a suggestion from a workout and diet training/fitness book that I was reading. I bought these on a whim, not really thinking that they would be very effective. I was wrong about that. I also like that they are lightweight and easy to swallow. I will be purchasing these again.

I have been impressed with the quality of this brand of supplements and this 5-HTP is no exception. I was looking for something to help with relaxation and better sleep. 5HTP does the trick!5 HTP is a known serotonin precursor and this is what helps us with mood and relaxation. This company is also putting B6 and Vitamin C in with the 5HTP because these vitamins help 5HTP to convert to serotonin. I am not convinced that they actually help, as they cannot cross the blood brain barrier and this is why I am giving it a 4 instead of 5 star rating. However, if you are lacking in these supplements, it may be a real positive for you.I have found that taking this by late afternoon is the best timing for me. If I take it too late at night it actually energizes me instead of relaxing me. Maybe someone else out there would have the same response.

This is a natural aid for depression. You’re supposed to take me six when you take five HTP in this one has the basics included which is great.Both of us take this to help with depression and I tell everyone about it. They really don’t believe me at first and I offered to buy it back from them if it doesn’t work. However when they take it it does work and they get relief! Helps keep you calm and helps you not to be agitated when under stress and the rest of the time. Went under a lot of stress may need to increase it to two times a day

I've been purchasing these for a over a year now, taking one a day. With my doctors approval, I use it along with an SSRI - I can take less of the latter this way. I am not able to completely replace the SSRI, but using the 5-htp with the SSRI (important! under doctor supervision!) is better all around for me than upping the dose of the SSRI. I've tried a number of brands, and this brand is among those that work best, and is the best value I've found. I can definitely tell a difference when I am using a brand that for whatever reason is not as effective.*Edit: Nov 6, 2017 -- Still only using this brand. Ran out and bought another brand in a drug store. Could tell the difference (negatively). Also read through the reviews of many other brands on here -- from both of those experiences, will stick with what works for me.

I get weather triggered migraines and 5 HTP helps immensely with controlling with these headaches. I used to take multiple doses a day, with Doctor's Best 5 HTP I usually only have to take 1 or maybe 2 doses now and I am good to go even in a big storm system. I know some people use these for sleep but I wouldn't want to be without them before a thunderstorm is due in a couple hours.

I've been taking these for several weeks, one pill each day at bedtime. Having tried other sleep aids, this is the one I'll stick with. After a few days to get used to it, I find I get to sleep quicker and stay asleep longer. The only thing I would note is that it seems to be better at promoting deep rather than REM sleep. I still get a lot of REM but I get more deep and my sleep tracker says it should ideally be the other way around.
