Just wanted to paint the top black as I have many black accents in my rooms. Let me say I was scared to death, if I ruined the table can’t afford a new one. First I cleaned the table with Krud Kutter as advised on ChatGPT. I also used a primer which honestly I don’t think you need. And then I rolled the paint on. Did the edges around with a sponge and a brush. It came out stunning! This paint is amazing. I chose matte as I don’t like things shiny, but will use a semi gloss polyurethane on top. You really only need one coat, I did two. It dries very quick, and is smooth and even. I highly highly recommend this paint if you are a first time painter of furniture like me. Easy Peasy and the finish is beautiful! I ordered the coastal blue now to paint an old cabinet, can’t wait!

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Rust-oleum says to use synthetic brushes or foam. on amazon site for chalked paint brushes they are natural boar. so what should i use?**
A: I find those expensive boar bristle brushes good for chalk style paints only if you're after that deeply textured brush stroke look.  I'm not a fan of that look.  I use the Rustoleum Chalked Paints quite frequently and by far, my favorite brush is the Wooster foam brush.  It looks alot like the super cheap foam brushes, but it leaves an incredibly smooth surface and can be washed and reused over and over.  If you want a more traditional brush, go with a mid-road synthetic like the Wooster short cut (I swear I don't work for wooster). 
I also dilute this paint and spray it in an HVLP sprayer for large projects, and it works beautifully!

**Q: is 'linen white' white white or what**
A: I would describe the linen white as a true and bright white, it creates a beachy look.  I love it.  It's the best white I've seen in a paint other than Benjamin Moore's Simply White.  And if you're familiar with that color, this linen white is a brighter white in comparison.  So if you're wanting a linen white that's in the beige or a flax linen color family, this is not it.  Some ACE hardware stores and possibly others that carry this paint, have an entire selection of colors that can be mixed on site for a custom color.

**Q: How big of a piece of furniture could a 30oz can cover?**
A: It covers a few hundred square feet.  That's sometimes hard to translate to furniture so I hope it's helpful if I just tell you that I can't think of a single piece of furniture that would require opening a second can.  A can will get two coats on 2 or 3 large dressers, a large dining table with chairs, or a couple of armoires, all with some left over.

**Q: Can I paint faux leather fabric**
A: I'm responding to the questions/comments below about chalk painting on fabric. You definitely can paint fabric! I chalked an old chair with horrible gold velvet upholstery. You must dilute your paint & apply multiple coats-drying in between. I sealed with clear wax to finish & the result is wonderful & soft like old soft leather🥰

The best paint for refinishing furniture I’ve ever used! I’m refinishing Ethan Allen living room tables & a bedroom set for a move to a retirement beach house. We looked at new furniture, but it wasn’t the quality we’ve grown used to over the last 47 years of marriage. Then, I decided to be daring & try Rust-Oleum Chalked All-in-One Ultra Matte in Coastal Blue. Wow! Removed the hardware, did a simple sanding, wiped it down with a clean cloth, used painter’s tape to ensure clean line & alternated between a good quality brush & roller. Every piece looks beautiful & it has a new life. An extra benefit is that we estimate that less than $50 of their white paint & the Coastal Blue saved us from spending over $4,000 on fake wood pieces of mediocre quality. Rust-Oleum does it again!
