This model of nighthawk isn't on spectrum's list of approved routers yet. has anyone gotten it to connect with their spectrum internet anyway?

What you are probably looking at us a modem/router list, not a router list. This does not have a modem, so make sure you have a modem before buying this. If what you have now is s modem/router, do not connect this to that. It takes technical knowledge to make this work using another router. You need to buy a modem, activate that modem with spectrum and then connect this to the modem.

Anyone experiencing constant drops on apple devices? i can’t seem to get a good wi-fi connection on 5ghz for ios devices i tried all 3 channels on 5gh

Check your firmware, including satellites. There was an update (V1.0.4.96_2.0.41) to resolve 2.4 device drops. The MR .chk file is different from the satellite (MS) updates. I didn't see anything for 5ghz issues.

Can this be wall-mounted or ceiling mounted?

There is a wall mount that can be purchased separately for this device. I mounted one satellite and placed the other on a flat surface. I’m not fond of the wall mount for it but it works.

What does the main router look like?

The router has an internet port and an Ethernet port. The satellites only have an Ethernet port.
