Excellent high pressure repair w/o clamps
My inch and a quarter NSF poly pipe pump line somehow suffered a 3” longitudinal split. The pipe is buried about 1 foot and I didn’t want to have to dig out a long section to install a couple of insert couplings and a new section of pipe. I actually called Watts and asked them what the best thing to do was. They suggested two couplers and a new pipe section but I was able to use just one fitting, spanning perfectly the 3 inch cut out section. I inserted one end of the fitting into the uphill section of pipe and then had to dig out a little bit more to allow enough inch and a quarter pipe to flex to the new coupler. That flex gave it enough oomph to force the other end of the barbed coupler into the pipe. Then I tightened down the lock nuts by hand, and finished it off with channel locks. So far so good. The product quality is excellent. I expect nothing less from Watts.

well underground plumbing is always a challenge, but this fitting works great!
The only real difficulty of repairing my underground line was knowing precisely how much of the pipe to discard making room for the repair fitting. I do wish there were a 'minimum gap' specification and i did have to cut an extra half inch to make it work. Once the fitting was in place it was a breeze to hand tighten and then use a wrench to finish the job.
