Wonderful
We love this stuff. It's chewy and tasty and soooo good for you. Is it spendy? Yeah, a bit, but honestly, I've bought it before and I'll buy it again. We are a whole-food plant-based household and a variety of grains, fruits, greens, beans, and veggies are where it's at for us. And color matters here, folks. The darker grains (not the dyed or sprayed versions, just the real deal) have so many benefits (anthocyanins come to mind here). So, yeah, we love it. Try it out! You'll probably love it too.

Perfect in every way!
I am combining this with brown rice and daikon radish seeds and cooking it like regular brown rice. Makes a nutritious, tasty dish with wonderful textures. Can be a side dish or with a little milk and brown or maple sugar is a wonderful dessert. This barley does not bleed its color when cooked. Love it!

Great Taste
I really enjoyed this. So much so I am giving my mother half a pound of it (she asked to try) and then went out and purchased 6 more pounds just to ensure I would have it.It reminds me of Wild Rice, but with a lower glycemic index. so that's great. It is not the least expensive grain you can purchase although this company appears to have the best price I can find online. However, where price is concerned, I am an omnivore, and realized I could (and do) spend $5 on a decent steak or some seafood, so $5 to $5.75 / pound for quality grain is not bad in the overall scheme of things. Its all a matter of perspective.Interesting. I tried to leave another review for the 6 pounds I just received and it won't let me do that. However, you can tell I didn't care much about the barley since I ordered another 6 pounds of it within a week of when I tried the original 3 pound package. 😍😍this is my new GO TO. I Love this Stuff. Now I just need to try purple from somewhere.

Absolutely Delicious!
I grew up eating pearled barley in soups. This barley puts pearled barley to shame. The flavor is outstanding and the texture is nice- just a bit chewy. It is wonderful cooked in a rice cooker with mushrooms. And, for those of you who want to juice barley grass, or grow barley in the garden, this barley sprouts quickly and easily. Barley is an under appreciated grain- if you’ve never tried it before, or if you’ve only eaten pearled barley, this is a healthier and more delicious version. Worth trying.

tastes fresh and hearty
As mentioned, this product tastes "fresh", i.e. like it hasn't been sitting around for ages, and is very hearty. I love the color. Cooks up easily in the Instant Pot and has been good for savory dishes as well as sweet porridge-type ones. See Dr. Gregar's How not to Die/How not to Diet cookbooks for ideas!

Great product
Love this grain! It has a great flavor and a chewiness that's I love. I mix it with kamut grain for more texture. One thing to note here--I had doubts before buying since I didn't want to buy a non-whole grain barley. This variety is naturally hulless. It can go straight from bag to the pot to be cooked, bran and fiber intact.

We love purple barley
We have had this in several dishes and on its own, in place of brown rice. It does cook up smaller than regular barley but it has excellent texture. I’m really glad we tried it. I’ll get a bigger size next time I order. I recommend it. You should try it. I’m appreciative of the folks who plant crops like this and for Amazon for making it available to all. Thanks
