Fantastic Quality, Fast Shipping, Quick Install
Eagle Mike is the only way to go when it comes to replacing the Doohickey on your KLR 650. My 2004 KLR just hit 10,000 miles and I hadn't dealt with the infamous doohickey yet, so I decided to pull the trigger and get this kit to do it myself. I was a bit concerned, not having too much experience with bottom-end work, but the install was relatively painless. I followed along with the Rocky Mountain ATV MC YouTube Channel's video on the Eagle Mike Doohickey installation and didn't run into any problems. The kit came with everything I needed in terms of specialized tools, so all I had to worry about was the typical spanners/ratchets, a breaker bar, some socket extensions, and a torque wrench that could handle the high torque spec required for the flywheel bolt. If you work on your bikes/cars with any frequency, this job shouldn't be too tough for you at all. I'd highly recommend taking the time to replace your stock doohickey before it turns into the job of pulling pieces of your doohickey out of the bottom end.

Everything to get the job done.
The media could not be loaded. Had decided to check my Doohickey on my 2014 KLR 650. Once I got into the engine, the original spring was at its limit so I modified it with this torsion spring mod. Everything was in the kit to do the job and the YouTube videos were extremely helpful. Quality product, quality tools, and a robust modification. The video is of the new Doohickey. It's a perfect fit.

Fairly easy to install for someone who can do basic mechanics
Everything was as expected. Fairly easy to install during an oil change. My gen 1 is a 2005 with 12500 miles. The original spring was about out of tension as you can see in the picture. I would highly recommend this upgrade.

Better check it before it's too late . . . great repair kit
Bought a KLR650 last summer with 17k miles - had a real light ticking noise. So faint I wasn't sure if it was chain noise or just 'regular' noise, and only at idle. After reading the stories about catastophic failure, I decided to bite the bullet and ordered the kit. Good thing I did - the spring and the actual 'doohickey' were both broken. The kit is complete and easy to install. All in, probably took less than 2 hours, including doing an oil change. The rotor holder and flywheel puller make the job simple (it could probably be done without them, but it'd be a pain). The actual tensioner is much more substantial than the original, and the torsion spring is a much 'cleaner' installation, and unlikely to run out of tension before the chain is stretched to the limit. Now that the doohickey is installed the bike is MUCH quieter . . no more chain rattle.

Great guality kit. Easy upgrade.
The quality of the tools and parts was great. Took about 3 hours to wash the bike, complete the upgrade and clean up. Study the instructions and watch a video of someone who knows what he's doing and it's a breeze.

Parts work well
The kit included every thing I needed to install the Doohickey. The torsion spring is way better than the stock one. My 2022 KLR only had 5400 miles on it and the stock spring had no tension left in it. I'm glad I replaced it with Eagle Mikes kit. Now I've got lots of adjustment left and the new spring keeps the balancer chain tight.

As advertised
Would have worked great if It wasn't already done to my bike before I got it. It's great quality.

High quality, easy installation
What’s there to say? If you own a KLR 650 this is the kit for you. All of the parts are high-quality. I suggest you look at one of the YouTube videos for installation.
