Color:B22MOR Byzance Jazz offers a deep well of expressive cymbals that draw players in. The hihats have a smooth and subtle response, and the crashes are known for a buttery feel that only develops from their hand hammered profiles and lathed surfaces. In addition, many unique and complex ride cymbals have been created within this line to help you find your voice behind the kit. These cymbals are made in Turkey from cast B20 bronze and hand hammered into shape by skilled Turkish cymbal smiths.

Beautiful - Sits in the mix and has great wash
The Meinl Big Apple Dark Ride 22" is a perfect blend of both dark and wash. By riding on the cymbal, it offers a very strong ride sound without getting out of hand but then also adds a nice, subtle, wash over the whole kit. As well, the crash aspect this ride is unbelievable. It is of course has a dark sound which maybe not be for you given your cymbal set-up but, the crash never overpowers the kit and is great for when you just want an extra punch to go along with your kick. Overall, this ride sits perfectly in any mix and is a phenomenal smooth dark ride that doesn't feel like a brick when you lay into it like most dark cymbals.

"Turkish ride" that I've been searching for . .
Oh yes, there are some incredible Turkish cymbal makers to be certain, no need to mention them. However, as cymbal artist with initials M.D. (many of you know who I'm referring to), brought his craft to the Meinl series of Byzance, the quality went into the realm of superb at a more affordable price. This newest family member of the Meinl Byzance Jazz series is precisely the music to my cymbal musical sound palette that I have been searching for. This "Medium Ride" in the Meinl Byzance Jazz series is just what the ride cymbal doctor ordered and is meeting up to my higher standards that fit more easily into my financial zone. I highly recommend this cymbal, especially this 22" as a musically hammered instrument worthy of all levels of jazz and any musical genre of detailed dynamics.

Meinl Cymbals B22DAR 22" Byzance Dark Ride
Meinl Cymbals B22DAR 22" Byzance Dark Ride Received this ride cymbal this week. First off, the packaging. The cymbal was shipped inside a plastic bag with no padding. I was very concerned about this and spent some time checking that the cymbal was not bent or deformed in any way. I would highly suggest that these items be shipped in a padded box or something that will provide some protection. The cymbal itself is amazing! The bell is clear and just raw with a nice dark ping. Riding on the shoulder of the cymbal with my nylon tip drumstick produces an awesome tone and it is not out of control. Sometimes this can be a problem with these larger diameter rides, not the case here. Crashing on this ride produces amazing tones, my bandmates made me play the ride all by itself at our last rehearsal. WOW was the comment that kept coming up from my band mates, Meinl-NICE JOB! This is my first Meinl cymbal, it will not be my last.I am giving this 4 out of 5 stars due to the shipping issue listed above.

My favorite ride
Wow, this is such a great ride! The tone is a little low for my taste, but still my favorite (I have 5 others, from Meinl and Zildjian)

Great crash and alternate ride voice for your kit.
Got this to match the Sand hats and Sand Ride I'd picked up a while back and it compliments them perfectly. As a crash this thing is low pitched, dark and warm. As a ride it's got a low tone and ping that you can feel deep in your bones. A bit pricey, but one hell of a cymbal.

Amazing tone profile
Amazing tone profile. Everything from a gentle touch up to a raging smash has a beautiful and full response. It replaced my Zildjian A Ping Ride and this one is darker, more complex, and considerably more versatile. It's kinda making my other cymbals sound bad....

I love it!
This ride is so perfect! Dark and washy with a big humongous sound and a clear and killer bell. The crash on it it's even bigger and more mighty (Benny Greb said and it's true!).Don't have any second thoughts on this one, you are just never gonna regret it.
