Why are we unable to get the short wave to work on the radio? Nothing but static. FM works fine.

Hi - I also bought the radio because of the short wave feature. If this were 1965 you would probably be picking up a lot more stations but very few people broadcast over short wave since the advent of the internet. It's a bit obsolete but there are some religious programs from the bible belt and a few countries like Cuba, Venezuela and eastern European that utilize short wave. I'm no radio techy but I find the reception better at night after 10pm and when it's overcast outside. Make sure the antenna is fully extended and if you purchase a portable shortwave reel antenna that will also help. That will extend the length of the fixed antenna on the radio. If you have some old wire and attach that to the fixed antenna that will do the trick too. Or make the fixed antenna touch another long piece of metal. Also, try turning off all other electronic devices in the room like computers, TVs and radios. One last note, sometimes it's simply location. I can pick up SW stations much better than a friend of mine that lives only a few miles away from me. I hope this helps.
