ENSURE that it is your subfloor that is squeaking; not your baseboard/wall to floor joint!!!
There is nothing more annoying than a squeaky subfloor, especially in a house that you paid good money for. Imagine my surprise when our relatively new home ended up having the squeaks and groans of a turn of the century barn house. The main floor creaks were easily dealt with, as I had access to them via the basement. For the 2nd floor squeaks however, they were not as easy...initially.Let me first say that I have purchased this product twice. The first time around I was not impressed at all, and although it seemingly took care of my floor noise in the master bedroom for a day or two, the ruckus quickly returned and I was so angry that I returned the product. After spending several hours and putting tens of screws through your carpet, you expect the problem to be fixed. Lo and behold I eventually discovered that it was not the subfloor that was doing most of the squeaking, but rather the baseboard/wall to floor connection! (see image) Apparently over time it is very common for the fasteners that secure your walls to your floor to get a little loose, especially in climates with drastic temperature fluctuations. THIS problem is easily fixed by hammering shims in between your carpet and your baseboard...it really works!!! So please check and see if that is the problem before you decide that this product doesn't work. On to my review...The system itself is pretty straightforward and the kit comes with everything you might need to be successful. These screws really DO break off under the carpet & padding and you will never know they are there! I have very close pile berber carpeting (see image) and I had no issues. Just make sure that you drive the screw down until there is only barely enough room to get the break-off tool onto the head of the screw and I promise you that you will be fine. Everything seems to be of high quality and I haven't had issues with anything breaking. Protip: When using the floor joist finder screws (there are two), make sure that you alternate every couple uses because they can get extremely hot and would probably break if used repeatedly many times in a row in a short amount of time.Finding the squeaks is generally easy. Finding the floor joists themselves can be a little trickier. Get down on your hands and knees in the general vicinity of the squeaks and press down hard with your fists moving perpendicular to your floor joists...eventually you will get to a point where when you press down, it will be silent! This is probably where your floor joist is and you have moved on to another piece of subfloor. Then you can use your joist finding tool to make sure that you are on the joist. The kit explains exactly how to use them properly. Keep in mind that you will probably need to use at least 2-3 screws for every squeak, as it is difficult to exactly hit the edge of the piece of subfloor and secure directly into the joist at the perfect spot. You can use a tape measure to get the distance from the wall to where your floor joist is (going perpendicular once again) and drive a few screws into the joist, staying as close to the edge of that piece of subfloor as you possibly can. I usually vary by 1/2 inch in either direction to make sure that at least 1-2 of my screws is in the exact position it needs to be.When snapping off the screw heads make sure that the screw is driven in AT LEAST as far as the tool will let you go. Going a little further will not hurt anything; but make sure you have some vice grips handy to snap the screw head off if you'd like to go a little deeper than the tool will allow. I generally go another full rotation sans tool very slowly to make sure I'm getting the best contact possible. I can also still use the tool to snap off the screw head going to that depth. YMMV.All in all, this kit successfully quieted many of my random squeaks throughout the house. Some are still there, but are so faint that only I would notice them; which I think is an acceptable solution considering I did not want to have to pull up carpet to re-secure and entire subfloor. This kit is not 100% effective, but is probably 80-90% effective at quieting your typical subfloor squeaks and noises; which I think is fantastic. O'Berry has done a very good job with this innovative kit.

Works Great, Space out your screws.
I used this product this past Saturday. My entire house squeaks, it is so bad it would wake up the entire family when someone walks around in any room. I have hardwood floors in most of the house and carpet in the bedrooms so in master I decided to try it first. It started out slow as I was not hitting the joist as the instructions say to do. I have a pop out ceiling in my basement so I could see the fact that i was missing the joist so it made it easier then some others may find. Once I was lined up it went pretty easily. I started spacing them about 3 inches away from each other but that was using a lot of screws So I then decided to go about 8 inches apart and it managed to do a great job and save a lot of screws.I left the heads on all the screws until the very end, that way if i needed to add more I could determine where to do so. I did add about 5 screws at the end as I still had minor squeaks. It was so nice to walk around the room and not hear a single squeak. Now I have to try to work on the hardwood floors but i wanted to practice in bedroom first. The head broke off very easily by the way. Depending on how much area you need I would recommend getting extra screws. I used this entire kit and used maybe 10 additional screws for one bedroom but it would depend on the size of the area. I would say just start by spacing them out far apart like a 8 inches to 12 inches and go back in fill in where you need so you don't waste material. GREAT PRODUCT

SQUEAKS HAVE DIFFERENT CAUSES! READ THIS BEFORE BUYING :)
Did not work for our squeak! If your problem is like ours, the squeak occurs in the seams where two sheets of subfloor meet, which, of course, is between two joists; so this product did not help at all! So after doing everything correctly, using 24 screws and the problem was not solved, we were stumped. Luckily, our squeak is under the unfinished portion of our basement, so after A LOT of head scratching, and looking up and yelling "walk now" we have realized that this would have never worked for us. So bummed! I'm sure this is the reason for a lot of 1 star reviews. Figure out the cause of the squeak before spending the $20. Now I guess we have to get some 2x4's and run them between the joists at the seam and hope that works. If your problem is that the subfloor is loose from the joist, I can totally see this working, we did use the kit, and it was easy to use, etc... I maybe would've given it 5 stars, but now we have 24 screws in our joists and the squeak is exactly the same as it was.

Amazing results with video proof!
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. Worked like a charm. Subfloor was squeaking, I used a stud finder and a tape measure to find the joists (which in most cases run front to back). Pumped in 6 screws and the squeak is gone!I did practice on a spare piece of carpet and wood to get the feel of it.Toughest part was pulling the top of the screw out after breaking it, just wiggle it and be a little patient.

Works well and highly recommend it!
Ok, there's the deal:- Does it solve the problem of squeaky floor? YES, my floors are quite and sturdy after the remedy.- Is it easy to use? YES, it takes my couple of try-outs to locate the joist and some learning to break the screw using the tool provided, but I managed to make a room non-squeaky within 1.5 hours (including learning how to use it).- Is the tool set perfect? No, it would be nice if the break-out tool piece (the tripod) is made of metal instead of plastic. It would be nice if they could design the joist finder better so it won't slip out of my screw driver's slot.- Is it worth it? Absolutely YES! This is the ONLY solution in the market without tearing down the whole room.In summary, it works! and I recommend it!

Care for unseen water pipes
I should have realised but the morning after using these screws I came down to find water dripping from kitchen ceiling. I used joist scanner but unknown to me there were 6 water/central heating pipes directly below area I was working on. I managed to get a builder round that morning to lift floor boards and cut out damaged section of pipes and refit but whole experience will cost me hundreds of pounds. My fault for being stupid but be very, very careful before using.
