## Description

Valvoline Advanced Full Synthetic 75W-90 Gear Oil provides enhanced performance in hypoid rear differentials and non-synchronized manual transmissions. With 1.5X stronger extreme pressure protection, 1.5X better gear wear protection and 30% better protection against towing and heavy loads vs. Valvoline Daily Protection 75W-90 in ASTM D-7452, it’s a must-have in severe service situations and demanding environments, including off-roading. Featuring superior-quality additives like limited slip for optimal clutch pack performance and an anti-foaming agent for improved lubrication, the full synthetic formula also boasts excellent high temperature performance, thermal stability and oxidation resistance. It’s recommended for conventional rear axles and non-synchronized manual transmissions requiring extreme pressure gear lubes under high torque, high speed, high load and high horsepower conditions. From everyday driving to heavy hauling, Valvoline Advanced Full Synthetic 75W-90 is a go-to gear lubricant for high pressure performance and durable, smooth, reliable shifts. Upgrade to Advanced Full Synthetic from Valvoline, the #1 gear oil brand.

Review: Valvoline synthetic - what professionals use. GL-5 with limited slip additive. 5 stars! - I've used Valvoline sythentic oil in many applications for over forty years. Valvoline is a top notch A+ grade lubricant, not some cheapo over-hyped and over-rated snake oil. I used this particular GL-5 rated sythetic (with limited slip additive) in a BMW E36, and it meets or exceeds all BMW requirements. Works great, and better protection than stock 75W-90 when driven hard, towing or in hot environments. Thanks to the limited slip additive, the pos-unit is smooth and gradual, not chattery. The limited slip additive is in the package, no extra costs or mixing required. NOTE: If you don't HAVE limited slip, no problem. The Valvoline limited slip additive is harmless to non-posi differentials, so you can use it in either application without any concern. Finally, a small but significant detail is that the Valvoline container style makes actually putting the lubricant into the rear axle of the BMW very very easy. No hoses or pumps required! Drain the old gear oil from the bottom port. Close it up and retorque the drain plug. Now, open up the top port and squirt the oil in with this squeeze style bottle. Retorque the fill nut, you're done. Works fantastic - didn't spill a drop, and absolutely no hoses or pumps required. A simple no-nonsense solution to what can be a messy problem, and a GREAT synthetic gear oil from a real old-school oil company - one that actually operates real refineries. (unlike so many other snake-oil style gear oils and engine oils, which come from people who don't own or operate actual refineries...I bet you didn't know that, eh? HINT: BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Amsoil, Royal Purple, etc. do NOT refine anything. They SPECIFY, and then real refineries make their product for them.) Just personal taste, but I'd rather buy from the source, as opposed to a vendor who bought it for me (with markup included, of course - plus advertising and marketing) Go Valvoline - you can't go wrong.
Review: PTU Fluid! - I do my own vehicle maintenance for past two decades. While I do not consider myself an expert in this field I am more or less a Do-It-Yourself (DIY) kinda guy. Keeping car maintained for most people is not easy as they have busy lifestyles. But if you do have free time and the aptitude to learn regular car maintenance pays off and in the long run you could save 1000's of dollars. Yeah, it is true. Here is a story on PTUs. Ford calls it "PTU" for their infamous 'Power transfer unit' which is prone to so many issues on early 2005-2012 ford escape 4WD/AWD drive-train may it be regular gasoline or Escape hybrids. The false belief or opinion is that this PTU fluid is meant to be 'lubricated for life' on that PTU contraption but because of the sheer stresses and heat (Since PTU sits very close to the catalytic converter + Exhaust pipes) the Full Synthetic Gear Oil inside literally gets cooked overtime when you drive your vehicle and the heating and cooling breaks down the fluid's characteristics over the lifetime of the vehicle and once that happens and it looses it's lubrication characteristics the gears get ruined permanently once it reaches the breaking point. On top of that, there is this so called "Vent" contraption that is supposed to vent out gases and excess fluid also is prone to leaks.. the nut holding the vent is not torqued properly and it leaks fluid all over the PTU thus making the PTU a rather poorly designed and documented piece of part that is lurking in all the 4WD/ AWD Ford vehicles. I was made aware of this recently and to me it has been an eye opening experience. Thanks to Internet and all the enthusiasts who shares their knowledge online and documenting things. Thank you. OK, with that background, it is very clear that you need to make sure that you replace that PTU Full Synthetic Gear Oil every 30k-50k miles (Depending on your driving habits) and inspect the color of the fluid. It should be mostly clear when drained if found to be sliver in color with metallic shavings.. you are in for a major expense as PTU is not cheap and the labor to replace the PTU is high. Once PTU fails, it will sound like you are dragging bunch of tin cans down the road rattling as you go. Now, This Valvoline 75W-140 SynPower Full Synthetic Gear Oil-1qt is reasonably priced and the bottle can be squeezed and gear oil can be dispensed directly from the bottle. I liked that convenience. Although most vehicles require little amounts '12 ounces' only so one bottle should last two applications. Making this an economical insurance against premature PTU failures. Thanks for reading my review. Rating the product with five stars!
