This was a great surprise! The text itself was dark and well written, but the audio-state format really brought out a few jump scares. As someone who typically goes on walks or drives while I listen to audible, I'm not going to lie - I had to stop and devote myself fully to the story toward the end.The story picks up momentum as Walter and Ruby's romance leads them to visit her father's home, located deep in the woods. I found myself really rooting for them while simultaneously wanting Walter to just ditch and never look back. There are some pretty big red flags. But of course, as in all good horror, part of what propels the characters and the reader forward is the mystery, which when done right, only gets more wretched and gut-wrenching with every step. There's also a shift in tone - or maybe just setting, but it felt like the tone as well - from the suburban, small-town party scene at the beginning of the story to the haunting, old-world feel as they travel to the father's house in the forest and then beyond. This leaves you progressively more isolated, and this is where the sound effects and voice acting really begin to shine.Overall, a very awesome listen, and I'd definitely recommend it!

Zahler does it all
I was able to find this on the horror streaming service SHUDDER, and I'm glad I did. I don't often listen to audio books, or ear podcasts, or radio dramas. But as this was a screenplay written by S. Craig Zahler--writer and director of the brilliant BONE TOMAHAWK and BRAWL IN CELL BLOCK 99, I couldn't have been more excited to give new material a listen. Zahler seems to be able to do it all. Movies, books, soundtracks and now audio adaptions. It was narrated by a great group of actors and you really got lost in the story. Time rushed by for me and I felt like I was envisioning a movie. That's what a great story does. THE NARROW CAVES does not disappoint and I would love to see it adapted to the screen. But it doesn't have to be, because this method of adaption worked-- Give it a chance and enjoy!

Part Audiobook/Part Movie... ALL Fantastic
This was a wild ride. Part audiobook, part movie, with top-notch talent and amazing sound design. Rather than the normal 8-12 hours for a full novel, the suspense and story never let up. Wyatt Russell and Lili Simmons had great chemistry, and Will Patton's voice smoothly keeps you engaged. Can't wait for the next one from these guys! Bravo.

Excellent Audio Experience
After several failed attempts to listen to audiobooks that are able to keep my attention, this audio experience was wonderful; I truly couldn’t put it down! Great work from both main characters in this compelling story.
