Amazing reel - smooth casting - great sensitivity - worth the money!

Great reel ! Love the drag on it!

Smooth, lightweight and nice finish. After a trial run on the flats, the reel met all my needs and the drag was smooth. I can recommend the reel. I gave it 3 stars as I expected to be wowed after spending $99.00 more than a Shimano Stradic. Not much better than the Stradic just lighter and a tad smoother. We will see how well it holds up in saltwater.

I've used the Quantum EXO, Quantum Smoke, Shimano CI4, CI4+, Patriarch, Patriarch XT in my current set ups, and this new MGX is better than all of these on first glance. Of course it is at a slightly higher price point as well. The reel looks good, it feels good, and is well put together both in build and materials.After a weekend of fishing, I wasn't impressed however. It is a great reel, and perhaps I had an imperfect example, but although very solid and powerful on the retrieve, it doesn't not have the smoothness of the patriarch or shimano ci4 at a more expensive price. The drag, nor the cranking is as smooth. It does have a better fit and finish, and does seem to have a strong powerful drag and crank to it when compared to the other reels, but feels less smooth and actually makes more noise during operation. I actually video taped this noise and compared it to other reels and there is no question it is there. Abu offered to take a look, but considering I just purchased it, I don't feel like waiting for 6 months to have the factory work on it. I'm going to look into the CI4+ and perhaps some of the higher end Shimano and Daiwa options. Most likely ill end up with the original patriarch as its superior to the newer XT model.At a $300 price, this reel should be buttery smooth when compared to much cheaper models and does not outdo them. It may however be more durable over the long term.

After one year of using this reel, I can say that i will never buy another Abu Garcia product ever again. I fish about twice a week and used this reel along with a Pflueger President XT, honestly Pflueger reel out perform and lasted longer than this reel, Pflueger reel is two older too. The Revo MGX paint is already coming off and making noise, while the pflueger president xt looks great and smooth like new.

Came fast and was in perfect condition. Have not fished with it. I can tell it's top notch reel. Very pleased with my purchase.

Super light and awesome reel. I’m only giving it 2 star because of the reel. The quality of the reel that was sent to me was horrible. the original reel that was sent to me wasnt working correctly. I returned it for a replacement and that replacement had a loose component on it too and I had to return the replacement too. I just ended up buying the reel straight through Abu Garcia.

Expensive, but worth every nickel! I have never used such a smooth and refind instrument! I knew on the first cast that this was special!
