Ready America 4065 Quake Hold Adjustable Home Electronic Safety Strap, 11 in L, 50 lb., Nylon

We have an older tv in our playroom, and this was an inexpensive way to secure it. I've met a couple of kids now who have pulled down tv's and dvd players climbing furniture, so really appreciate the peace of mind.

When I first received the Quakehold Strap I thought it was a fairly large amount of money for what the product actually consisted of. Just a few nylon straps and a few plastic buckles.I'm sure they could sell the same thing for five or six bucks and still make a very good profit. But it's not what the product consists of that makes it well worth the price. It's what it actually does in the long run which is give you peace of mind that your TV set is going to stay sitting where it is and not on top of some hapless child who managed to tip it over. Or, if you live in an earthquake prone area such as California where at any time a tremor large enough to shake your TV set off it's perch could make it fall on anyone near it. And if it was fortunate enough not to hurt anyone it would still possibly destroy one of your most valuable possesions. The best thing about the product is that it does do what it was intended to do and when installed correctly does it very well. Fortunately, installation is pretty easy. You simply fit the straps to the sides and back of your set and cut them to the proper length. Then you press the adhesive buckles onto the surface next to the set where the straps will go. Then you adhere the straps to the sides of the set and pull them through the buckles to anchor the set down to whatever surface it is on. Make sure you press the straps onto the set securely. That's really all there is to it. The one issue I would mention is that when cutting the length of the strap you want to make sure you leave enough length to be able to grip it well when pulling it through the buckle. Cut it too short and you won't be able to pull it tightly through the buckles. The adhesive on the buckles adheres them strongly to most clean flat surfaces. Yet it won't mar the surface if for some reason the buckle must be removed. Use a screwdriver or large knife to pry the buckle off,then a little alchohol(not the kind you drink)to clean the remaining adhesive from the surface. If you really want to be sure your set isn't going anywhere one small hole can be drilled through the center of the buckle and a small screw put through it making it super solid. I would have given the QuakeHold Strap five stars if the price would have been $9.95, or less. But like I said, it's actually a small price for the peace of mind. P.S. I wouldn't recommend this product for large, heavy, older sets. It should be used with the newer flat screens up to around 42 inches, and the smaller older sets below 27 inches(screen size).

I actually had used one of these kits years ago as a TV hold-down but bought this one to mount a DTV converter UNDER a cabinet in an RV. Worked great and so far, it's held as it should. I like the little hold down buckles, they hold very tightly. Included alcohol pads which you'll need to clean the mounting surface.

I bought the Quakehold! 4065 TV Strap with the intention of protecting our plasma television. Imagine my disappointment to find that the strap is designed for televisions with picture tubes. I may be able to adapt this product in some way but it is clearly not designed for flat screen television. The upside is, the odds of an earthquake happening are based on Geological time and not actual time. The downside is, the odds of an earthquake happening that would pretty much destroy everything I own, are just as likely. There's no way to know for sure.

Many people do not realize that a toddlers pulling a TV/Monitor onto themselves is a common cause of serious crush injuries. This easy-to-install product with clear instructions helps prevent this from happening. It took <5 minutes to install. Highly recommended.
