I use Elmer's glue sticks for typical arts and crafts projects but mainly for 3D printing. Spreading a thin film of glue on the build plate keeps printed models securely attached during printing, and acts as a release agent to make is easier to remove finished parts. I tried various other brands with disastrous results. Elmer's is far superior in this application. I don't have models coming loose during printing and I can remove models without damage.
