This is a very advanced RO unit, with a built in booster pump, automatic membrane back flush, pressure gauge, high pressure and low pressure switch. The built in booster pump ensures the optimal water pressure is supplied into the RO unit for the best rejection rate and water production speed, saving both time and water. The automatic flush unit will operate periodically and back flush the RO membrane. This will prolong the life of the filters, and eliminates the need to manually back flush the membrane. The built in pressure gauge displays the water pressure (psi) to give piece of mind that the RO unit is working at the optimal water pressure. This unit is available in three different sizes (50gpd, 75gpd and 100gpd). gpd = gallons of product water (approx) produced per day. These 4 stage units have a DI chamber, which is supplied filled with high quality DI Resin. After passing through the membrane, the filtered water is passed through the DI resin, to reduce the Total Dissolved Solids to 0. This is a 4 stage RO unit, which will produce 0 TDS water. Please note: The booster pump fitted to the unit is not rated for continuous use. The pump can run for a maximum of 2 hours then would need to rest for 15 to 30 mins. Considerations before buying a Reverse Osmosis unit: - The process of producing RO water is very slow due to the intensity of the filtration process. - For an RO unit to be able to produce pure water, it needs to reject the majority of the water that goes into it. You will tend to get around 1 part pure water to 4 parts waste water. For example, every 10 litres of water that goes into the unit, you will get around 2-3 litres of pure RO water and the other 7-8 litres would go to waste. - This RO unit is purely for producing pure RO water. If you are using it for producing drinking water, you will need to remineralise the water before drinking due to the purity of the water the unit produces. - Due to the time it takes to produce RO water, If the water is going directly to a tap, you would also need a Pressurised Storage Tank so you always have water on hand ready for when the tap is opened. I think placement of the solenoid is in the wrong as it does mean that when you first turn it on the pump will be running dry whilst the second pre-filter fills up. **Q: hi can i use this r o unit for marine aquarium the 4 stage or do i need to add xtra filter please** A: Yes you can, i also have a marine aquarium which was my main reason for purchasing this, it works great and produces 0 tds water, i also brought a inline tds meter to go with it and it is producing better quality water than i was buying from my local fish shop, you can always add an extra stage later if you really wanted to, but at the moment 4 stage is just perfect, would recommend a inline TDS meter to monitor when filters need changing though **Q: can this be left outdoors when running?** A: The instructions have a caution do not use the equipment outdoors and do not place in direct sunlight. I run my unit under a sink waste pipe from the unit into the sink waste. The unit works great and the Finest Filters company will answer all enquiries.
