FDC rust converter ultra worked great for me.
I used this on an old car body that was glass bead blasted and it worked great for me. I applied it uncut with an undercoating gun. It went on pretty good considering the cheap gun I bought because I couldn’t find my old good one. On the inside, it went into places that blasting couldn’t get. It turned purple, and after 4 days, I sprayed epoxy primer over everything and it adhered well. I live in Arizona where the humidity is very low, so consider your humidity levels, you don’t want to trap moisture between your metal and this stuff. This stuff is good for existing rust, not so much for preventing rust from trapped moisture, or your finger prints.

Impressive! But it needs to come in a quart size too
My 2014 Tacoma was developing some rust spots underneath, so I tried this rust converter. It worked amazing well! It looks like milk and does not have any nasty odor. I simply brushed it liberally on the rusty spots on the undercarriage, and within a day or two I noticed the rust was gone. No scraping or sanding required. I also did not bother painting over it afterward as the rust was all surface level and this really took care of it. Unfortunately, I only used about 1 quart of the stuff so I have a ton left over... if it came in a smaller container option that would be great. But still, for the price it worked great and took care of the problem, so I highly recommend.

Cut Prep time down - great results with less elbow grease
I recently bought the Rust Converter to use on the roof of my 2005 Toyota 4Runner. Years of roof loads had left scratches all over the roof that subsequently rusted. I was dreading the thought of sanding the roof to remove the rust. I was actually looking for a metal treatment product to put on the roof after I sanded when I found the rust converter. I followed directions and lightly sanded the roof to remove high spots and generally smooth the roof for painting. I applied the solution with a brush, waited for several hours and gave it a second coat. The rust converter worked as advertised and turned all the rust spots to a dark black color. I am ready to paint and extremely pleased that this product took my prep time down from 5 or 6 hours to less than 2. The only comment I will make to first time buyers is that -- a little goes a long way. Not wanting to run short I ordered the gallon size. After applying two coats and touching up some other areas around the house, I found I used a little over a pint. So gauge you needs by that. I am a USCG Captain and can see the value of using this product a thousand places on my boat. It is a great product and I will buy it again. Tom -- Charleston SC

Will need 2-3 full coats with 24hrs dry time between coats
I had the surface of 3 large PCs of farm equipment and 2 trailers, 12ft & 26ft, professionally blasted to bare metal this surface rusted nicely in the next 48hrs from Florida rainy season humidity and rain. I tried brushing 1st but was too slow, doing 2 coats. I'd do one ft ft section, then go back over it B4 going to the next section. It looked all black and good,,till the next day when it dried. It dried very transparent and looked rust still thru the thin black, even tho it was shiny, wet black when applied. I wasn't happy with this because I didn't untent in painting over it,and spending 2x more money for metal\rust paint! So in a last ditch effort I put the product in my harbor freight cheapest automotive spray gun at 20psi air pressure,,applied a 3rd and 4th nicely even coat of the material on my equipment. In the trailer I tried applied the material too heavily with a squirt bottle and used a sponge to smooth it out. No application method produced a nice finish on the 1st application. Once it dried I tested a 3rd coat just wiping a small area in the trailer ,,and that turned out quite nicely. Just a heads up in case you see sales pics from these distributors showing B4 and after pics ..it can be achieved, but only after letting the 1st 1-2coats dry fully over night,,and application of a second coat, calling that to dry overnight. That's a problem here in Florida because it rains often . We used plastic tarps to protect it.and worked out well. See photos

Revising a one-star review to a five-star review
I just spent 3 long days peeling a 20-year-old commercial bedliner spray job on my F-450. Part of it had come loose and the rust was starting to be too much to ignore. Peeling The remainder with hammer, chiselwith and half dozen wheels of paint and rust remover with a grinder. The job absolutely sucked as each morning the entire grinded area was all rusted over again. I use the product over the really bad rust pitted almost through areas and it did such a good job even on the exterior parts that was just bare metal I ended up laying this product over the entire bed before doing a new bedliner rolled over finish. The proof was instant as the next morning there were no rust anywhere. The product does say wait 48 hours and it confirmed the effectiveness against rain and morning dew. I was quoted $1800 to respray a bed liner after I did all the hard work so I ordered the herculiner kit. I like this product so much I went on to use it on top of a 2003 expedition roof and then use the same bedliner finish on top of that roof. I have been to multiple finishing shops charging me thousands of dollars to stop the rushed holes on the old Ford roof and All I did is waste my money with them. This product along with roofing fabric over the holes of rust and the bedliner finish renewed my SUV for another 5 years. Can't beat the naturally aspirated v8s that has been maintained so why you lose a vehicle over rust that now can be taken care of with this phenomenal product. I am now using this chemical in a spray bottle to go underneath my truck and spray the entire frame along with the drive shaft and anything else that looks rusty. Every 6 months I go under the truck with a can of rustoleum rust converter and it's gone within months. This product is for real not just surface garbage. I'm starting to use this as the primer coat on anything that has metal.

This is my second time buying this now. With the last jug I rust converted the frame on my truck and the frame on my friends 20 ft trailer. It worked great. I'm hoping it kills the rust so that my frames last a lot longer. My second jug is for the second truck I'm fixing up.

it was eating through the paint even after letting it set for three days.

I give it a 4.5. Would be higher if not for the shelf life of the product. Initial supply chain glitch resolved with Paul. Converter works great if used according to instructions on the container ( jug). I did 2 coats 30 min. to an hour apart then a third coat the second day. Turns the rust, metal a dark purple, black colour then after the third dries to almost black. Just be sure to get the loose rust, flakes off (wire brush) before applying. One or two coats of paint and my truck frame looks new. Just be aware, product has a shelf life.
