Looking at the picture I thought it would be rough on my foot like the material from a wicker basket. I was wrong! The material is soft, smooth and comfortable and very light like nothing is there under my foot. It’s cool in hot weather and warm when cold. However, it does make a slight fiber friction sound on hard surface. This manufacturer has another design sold through Amazon. Unlike this design the former was very uncomfortable to wear and was returned. It must have been their first prototype. I purchase these slippers to wear around the house. Size (S) on the former did not fit well. On these (S) was a perfect fit. Small I would say is equivalent to Men 6.5 or women 8. These beat the straw slippers I have bought over the years.
