I would think so. I had a gloss paint DIY accident on a staircase carpet and the acetone in combination with a 1 litre of  industrial alcohol did a wonderful job.
Use a lot of the alcohol and follow up with a little acetone, repeat as necessary.

Question 2

Will this remove paint from large area of concrete?

Accepted Answer

It depends on how long the paint has been on the concrete.
If the paint has been on a while,then I doubt it.
Acetone is really for fresh contamination.
I would use a held held belt sander to remove the paint.
Any work on concrete is not easy.
Invest in a machine .

I'm not sure what you mean by a plastic floor. If you mean vinyl flooring then it probably would do the job but will likely damage the surface.  I would use a sticky stuff remover if you don't want to damage your flooring. Acetone shouldn't be applied to any surface other than glass or plastics that you want to melt. Any plastic surface with a glossy finish or any plastic surface that is clear will be change and look milky.

Would this work on floorboards to remove glue from uplifted 30 year old vinyl tiles?

Probably! If you have a drop of nail polish remover why not try to see if that will soften the old glue.  If it does then the acetone should be fine for the job. Do be careful though - the fumes are very inflammable, and can be quite dangerous if you inhale much. 
Plenty of ventilation and frequent stopping to get a lungful of fresh air is advisable. I would advise that getting as much of the old glue as possible off with a scraper before using any solvent. 
Do bear in mind that I have been using acetone for many years, I have no professional experience with this, and bought acetone on this occasion for my small degreasing and paint dilution jobs.
