Hayward SP1106 Skim Vac In-Ground Pool Skimmer , White

I bought this to replace an old "gizzy" that had seen it's day, and what a difference it made! I'll start by saying if your not using one of these to vaccum your pool, you absolutely NEED to simplify your life and get one! They make it so easy! This piece is super sturdy and made very well. The rubber gasket at the bottom is in there very well, so air doesn't escape. You can move quicker than a snail's pace because you get great suction. It is easy to place over the skimmer and just as easy to remove. This makes vacuuming your pool simple, quick and not such a chore! 10/10 would reccomend!

I unscrewed the handle on my Skim Pro Skimmer Basket with Tower for Hayward SP1070 Series Pool Skimmer and used this with it. It did not fit 100% perfectly, but it worked none-the-less. It's super easy to use, I hook up my vacuum and set it aside, turn off my bottom drain, turn on the waste option on my filter and turn it on, use a hose to quickly fill it with water through the skim vac plate, stick the vacuum attachment in the pool, and quickly take the hose out the the skim plate and put the plate over the skimmer, which uses suction to create a fairly tight hold, so I can vacuum the pool. Once done, I turn off the pump, and can easily empty out my skimmer basket, instead of having to empty out the basket attached to my pool pump. Overall, I really love this plate, and wish I had purchased it sooner. It makes cleanup after vacuuming much easier, and allows me to capture more debris during a single vacuum, since my skimmer basket is much larger than the basket attached to my pump :-)

Embarrassed to say have had a pool for over 20 years and was never able to successfully vacuum it. Just couldn’t figure out how. Had product that looked like this. Just wouldn’t work. Couldn’t get suction. Closed pool super late 2 years ago and it had leaves in it when closed. Opened up to an algae mess. Shocked pool and uses a leaf bagger hooked up to a water hose to remove the leaves. Still needed to vacuum. Ordered this and if this one has the gasket built in, it worked great. The reason the old one I had didn’t work was the gasket was shot. They definitely need a good gasket to make the proper seal. Vacuumed to waste a few times to get rid of the muck. Avoided having to pay a pool company for a power vac.

When purchased it created a great seal. When it has a good seal, it does its job well. The issue I ran in to, which many did as well, is that the black o-ring falls out shortly after use. You have to make sure you don't lose it and position it in place prior to suction or it won't work as intended. I wish the o-ring would not have to be reinserted for each use.

For the past couple years I’ve been taking the skimmer basket out and vacuuming through the port which means all the solids end up in the pump’s basket which fills up quickly and is a pain to attend to. I saw a video on YouTube (of course) that highly recommended this so I ordered one and gave it try. Am so glad I did because it makes the whole vacuuming process so much quicker and easier. It’s a simple product that works amazingly well. Highly recommend.

This is okay. I had my old one for about 10 years and the rubber seal finally came off so I ordered this replacement. I have to say it's a good product but the black rubber seal falls off after every use. I have to push it back in before vacuuming. It seems to work great so I just hope it lasts a few years!

Why did you pick this product vs others?: Brand was same as pool pump and it really does as intended with pool vacuum cleaner but also works to improve draw in the skimmer.

Just what I needed! Mistake #1 I attached the vacuum hose to the skimmer opening (as seen on videos), but didn't even realize that the junk I was vacuuming up would clog the pool pipe. After unblocking the plug and looking for alternatives I found this vac-plate, which allows you to keep the skimmer bucket in place, to trap all of the stuff BEFORE it clogs up your pool line. Only prob was the male end on this plate and the male end of the hose required me to purchase a separate piece (turquoise piece seen in pic) to join the two male ends. Pic is of all the stuff it saved from going to the pool line / pool pump. Very happy with this device.
