How many fools to cover 162.97 square feet?

Each rolls 56 sq feet, so 3 rolls will cover 168 sq feet. With it being that close to what you need, I would purchase 4 rolls. I did my bathroom in this and purchased 3 rolls and had leftover which allowed me to cut with a little excess on each end when hanging and then trimmed at the top and bottom. Make sure you continue to re-clip the end of your trims blade to always give you a sharp blade to trim the paper. It is thick and a beautiful paper. Make sure you purchase the wallpaper paste that goes with this manufacture. You paste the wall and then hang the paper

Can this be used for around the fireplace?

Hi, I wouldn’t think there would be any issue; fire should not come into contact w/ fireplace. I love this paper and ironically last night was thinking where I could hang the last roll. I have this black croc, you’ll like the very feel of it; it’s in my main bathroom, great background for bold pictures, stunning draperies. Go for it!

Has anyone laid the paper horizontally? Im seeing that it looks kinda striped after hung so i want to try it horizontal, any tips?

The pattern you are seeing, I think, is impacted by the fact that its long strips of wallpaper so if you try it horizontally you will still see that "striped" effect, it will just be horizontal instead of verticle. I have a friend who did a small accent wall in her home office that way.
