Kidde P3010H Worry-Free Hallway Smoke Alarm with Safety Light and 10 Year Sealed Battery

Seems a good system. Internal battery only, no hard wiring. Comes with base plate and screws. If replacing a previous detector, even a Kidde, you will probably need to replace the old base plate as well, but it took our handyman about five minutes per detector,so installation is simple.

I had no idea when I purchased these 14 years ago they were sealed. Just a few days ago, I heard one chirping and knew the battery was low. I took my original down and realized it was sealed and I had to replace the Smoke Detector....I came onto Amazon, typed the Style Number in, and it appeared...I ordered and replaced the 3 existing ones I have. I took down the old ones and the new ones fit the holder that is up on my ceilings! As soon as you put it up, the Alarm sets itself! I tested it as well and it is perfect! They added a light to help you find your way if there should be a fire, and the alarm goes off in the night! This is a new feature my old ones did not have! I love having peace of mind! It has a spot to mark the date of installation and when to replace the unit! I feel safe and secure!

This is our second Kidde alarm after 10 years of the first. Battery life is exactly what is described and it fit on the same mounting as the old one. Easy to dismantle safely with lithium battery. Not happy they don’t take it back for recycling

I am replacing numerous detectors due to a new law in Maryland requiring sealed 10 year batteries. The First Alerts had a better review so I ordered 6 - one for each bedroom. I simply loosened the screws for the old detectors and removed them, and in about 2 minutes each, without drilling a single hole reusing the existing hole locations, I had the new detectors installed. I wanted the hallway light feature of the Kidde model on the top of the steps. It requires a completely unnecessary single hole mount that does not work and requires drilling a pilot hole for a large mounting plastic screw mechanism that was necessary to mount this detector into the ceiling dry wall. Once the mount was screwed into the ceiling, you are supposed to screw on the detector. But it requires so much force, it continues to screw in the mount creating a bigger hole. Then, if you need to remove the detector from the mount - say to paint - the hole mounting mechanism comes out. In essence, I had to mount the detector to the mount and then screw the mount into the ceiling. A very poor design. Also, the First Alerts were manufactured in Dec 2017, less than one month old. The Kidde was manufactured in Oct 2016 or 14 months old. I do not recommend the Kidde design.

I ordered two Kidde smoke detectors, model 301OH. The first two that I recieved were the wrong model number. I returned them both. The second two that were sent were the correct model number. They had a 10 year battery warantee. However one had a manufactured date of May 2024 and the other a date of August 2023. So essentially they had 2 and 3 years erased from the warrantee before they were even installed. Unfortunately you have to open the packaging before you can find the manufactured date.
