Does this dissolve to make a syrupy liquid? For example, would it work in a teriyaki sauce?

It does dissolve, I use it in coffee and baking. However, as it doesn't contain any pectin, which thickens sauces like sugar, I'm not able to comment on the consistency of the sauce you will get. I have used it in cooking, but it was a stew.
