CONTAINS FENNEL despite descriptions
Despite one of the product descriptions describing the ingredients as: This delicate country blend includes thyme, rosemary, savory, basil, lavender and other herbs and spices. And the question answered by THE SELLER which stated:There is no Fennel Seeds in our Herbs De ProvenceBy Spice Appeal SELLER on October 19, 2016There is in fact fennel in this blend. Since I was specifically looking for a blend without fennel, and read through the descriptions and questions before deciding on this product, I was very disappointed. When I contacted the company I got the following response:We changed our ingredients to include Fennel in 2017.It is stated under ingredients on the label that Fennel is included. We changed our labels to exclude the ingredients on the romance part ofthe label "includes thyme, rosemary etc....."Attached is a copy of our current label that goes out on our Herbs deProvence jars sent to Amazon with 9 oz.If you wish to return the Herbs de Provence please contact Amazon.comGo to your account - choose item to return and follow the instructions.I didn't think the response was very considerate AND when I went to return the herbs I saw this message: This item isn't eligible for return.Spice Appeal should know whether their product is returnable and they should describe it accurately on this site.Oh, and obviously I do not care for the taste of this product.

Just 4 ingredients instead of expected 6
In terms of price/value it’s great. However, I was disappointed in the ingredients. I am a sucker for Herbs de Provence and add it everywhere. My favorite one I bought years ago and since then, nothing comparable came into my hands. So I was very excited to find the one by “Spice Appeal” here online (my favorite one was by this brand). My first photo is to show that this is the same brand. With my old one, it’s not an original packaging (it was lean and tall glass so I replaced it), and contents are not original for a long time, but sticker is original since I wanted to save it to remember the brand and the ingredients.Second photo shows ingredients of the one I received from amazon.Third photo shows ingredients from the old sticker, the one I loved so much. You can tell that now it’s only 4 instead of 6, and there is also fennel. Savory, rosemary and marjoram are not there anymore.I can’t say “it’s not herbs de provence” and send it back, because there are different recipes, I guess. It’s just, I was so happy to see the familiar brand and didn’t expect that it was simplified so much. Also, it’s not as fine anymore. I mean, you can add it to soup or to your whatever you are cooking in the oven, but no salads or just sprinkling on avocado toast, - the pieces are way too big.I’m not sending it back but once I’m finished with it; I’m mixing my own from now on. It’ll be more expensive but 100% to my liking.

It has 4 different spices mixed together
It's okay...... I though I was ordering Tarragon, which is my favorite spice followed by Basil. This is a mixture of Basil, Thyme, Fennel & Lavender.I can't say it does anything special for me, so the Fennel & Lavender as part go the mixture seem to do nothing significant to me that I can notice, but I use it for the Basil & Thyme.I hate the label because it's nearly impossible to read. When using something to magnify the label it tells you what to use it for. instead of just listing the ingredients.I was going to give it 3 stars until I read the label again, but now I'm just irritated the 2 extra spices do nothing for me except to dilute the 2 spices I use most. So now I feel the single star is justified.Magnifying the label on Amazons website, because it isn't magnified enough to easily read it.

Great deal!
These herbs de provence are pretty good, especially for the price. I have purchased herbs de provence from Sequim, WA, where there is an abundance of lavender fields. With the product I get there, they do add fennel to theirs which is a nice addition. So I did purchase fennel separately and added to this product. It helps to enhance it. It does have a nice fragrance to it as well as contains lavender, which many herbs de provence products out there fail to contain! It seems to be too large of a container for personal use, maybe it is meant for restaurant use? I really wanted to get some more of it so at least now I have it and it should last a long time! Overall, I would recommend it.

This is a great value. It is not the best blend I've ever used, but it does the job and for a LOT less money. I wish it had fennel and tarragon in it (the bottle doesn't say it is in there, though I think I've seen at least a few fennel seeds maybe), but that's my only real complaint. As far as the lavender levels that some complain about, there is definitely no shortage of lavender in there. That's not a problem for me, though, because I think the lavender is an important part of the flavor profile that I'm after when using herbes de provence. Whether or not that is "right" is immaterial to me, since I like the flavor. I use this stuff on meat a lot. It is great to crust lamb chops, steaks, roasts, etc., with, and is good on roasted chicken too. I throw it in scrambled eggs from time to time, or in some soup if it just needs that little extra aromatic/herbal quality.

This blend is wonderful and normally it is a very expensive and hard to find item. During the holidays, I went to my usual places where I have purchased a similar spice blend before, but they no longer carried it. I was devastated--How was I going to cook my traditional Thanksgiving Dinner? I was so relieved that Amazon had this on PRIME and for the great price! The quantity is a great value. If you love cooking recipes from Giada (which I do), this blend is for you. I have used it for Turkey, Beef and many other things. It is just a good all around spice to have in your cupboard.
