Say the words... In a dark basement, a cold-blooded killer pits friend against friend, torturing one until the other says the horrible words that will end their friendโs suffering. Heโs gotten away with murder for years. Until now... Ellie Kline canโt remember most of her kidnapping when she was fifteen, but that night has shaped her life. Instead of cowering, that horrible night made her strong. Determined to prove herself as a cop despite being heir to the Kline fortune, she never backs down, and she never takes no for an answer. When the daring takedown of a suspect catapults her into the spotlight, it earns her a promotion...and the admiration of a killer. Now a detective assigned to the Cold Case Unit, Ellie is drawn into the mysterious murder of a young, unidentified college-age woman with no missing personsโ report, no leads, and no evidence. Even more shocking is that, while she was tortured extensively, her death was quick. But as Ellie delves deeper, she discovers a startling connection between the woman found dismembered in a park and another Jane Doe case. Is there more? As hazy memories of her own past begin to surface, itโs not only her family and the brass at Charleston PD who are watching her every move. Someone lurks in the shadows, ready to kill if Ellieโs journey into history gets too close to the cold truth. A riveting roller coaster ride of a psychological thriller, Cold Truth is the first book of the Ellie Kline Series that will make you consider adding a second lock to your door. This is a thrilling, exciting and addictive story that you can't put down. Imagine you have no Knowledge of an event in your life and only believe what your parents told you. Present day you just been promoted to detective, first assignment is cold cases as each clue comes together so do the voices you heard long ago. I still haven't figured out who the killer is but he has eyes everywhere. Happy reading. Review: Good read - It took me a while to really get into the book but I'm glad that I kept reading. the beginning chapters read almost as a love story between Ellie and her love interest but thankfully it picked up tomorrow detective law enforcement reading. Ellie Klein is in law enforcement and she is getting much resistance from her mother to continue pursuing her career. a quote that stands out in this book and reflects Ellie is found in Chapter 6 where is states "Well- behaved women don't change the world." This quote sums up Ellie and the uphill battle that she has in a field dominated by men.

Remarkable
Didnโt know this author. Saw the cover, read the blurb, and immediately bought the first eight books in the series. Then hoped I wouldnโt regret that decision. Not a chance! โฆat least I donโt think soโespecially if they all flow like this one. Well written, keeps the tension going. The change in point-of-view caught me off guard the first time but once I made the mental shift, when it happened again, it seemed natural. If you like this genre, I can highly recommend jumping in with both feet.

Great read real page turner.
Great read a real page turner, lot a twists and turns. it was hard to A down at times. . The aurhor is a great story teller, has a way with words and paints a picture so well you think your write there living with them. It had an amazing number twist and turns that I just didn't see coming, it was frustrating at times , but it had a satisfying ending. I really kept looking forward to the next reading section of it.. Looking forward to the continuation in the next book because Ellis case isn't solved yet completely.

Psychological thriller indeed!
Cold Truth is the kind of book that I both love and hate. I love it because of the gripping tale and relatable characters. It's a can't put down kind of a book, with so many people that "could " be the bad guy, that I kept changing my mind! It kept me engaged and hungry for more. Which brings me to the reason for hating it.... I literally COULD NOT put it down. It's 4 pm and I have been reading all day! Not to mention until 2 this morning! And now I have to get the next book, because...... I won't ruin it for you!

Cold Case
A little rough around the edges. Excitement in the last few chapters. Opens up many what ifs? Ready to roll into the next book to see if my theories are proven and what will happen when and whom.

Slow, unrelatable characters
Another "poor little rich girl" book: super rich family that give her trouble, fellow cops who don't take her seriously, an endlessly patient boyfriend who lets her lead him on in the prime of his life. She's gorgeous too and smarter than everyone; defies orders and protocol at every turn, but gets promoted for it all. It starts out very slow. Very repetitive with family dinners and fancy galas that all blend together. And the same conversations happen at these events. Once the mystery actually starts, it gets pretty good. I'd love if all the unnecessary fat could be trimmed and we get just the mystery and solving of the crime. I'd love a protagonist that's more relatable and down to earth too. If you can get through the first 12 chapters or so of repetitive character back story, you might enjoy the twists and solving of the cases

Ghastly, riveting story
A Difficult book to put down, well developed characters a mystery within a mystery, and I wanted Ellie to catch the bad guy so badly, I kept reading and reading.

Disappointing
A lot of background information wasnt necessary and was quite boring to be honest. Very far fetched stories about Ellie and the forces reaction to her antics, which seem to be irrelevant so far to the book. Took too long to get to the actual story. Ill give the second book a go but can't see me finishing the series if the first is anything to go on

Gave up after second chapter....
...when I realised I had stumbled into an modern day Barbara-Taylor-Bradford which ( speed reading forward to check ) seemed to spend ages banging on about how rich she was, with her $1k tips and all the naff family stuff and wondering when the heck it would get back to being about a murder investigation. I don't mind a bit of home background stuff but not when it dominates the whole thing.
