## Overview

The BioCharlie allows you to create biochar right in your fireplace, providing an eco-friendly way to combat climate change while enhancing your garden. With easy-to-follow instructions, you can enjoy a cozy evening by the fire and contribute positively to the environment.

## Description

Let your fireplace go green tonight and enjoy the warmth like never before. The BioCharlie is a biochar making metal log that fits into your fireplace, wood stove, or outdoor fire pit. It is roughly the size of a fireplace log and looks like a log when in the fire. It is designed to make a small amount of biochar and may be re-used over and over, whenever you want to relax by your fireplace. The making of biochar helps the environment by transforming kindling wood or any biomass into an extremely stable state of carbon. When the char is mixed into soil, the carbon is locked away for up to a millennium or longer. Biochar helps the soil by holding on to nutrients and fertilizers needed by plants inhibiting them from being washed away. It encourages microbial growth while absorbing water and keeping the soil more drought resistant. You will enjoy your fireplace way more than ever before, knowing that you are doing your part to help your planet. Photos show the BioCharlie transforming kindling wood into biochar. Kindling wood is not included with product. You can use your BioCharlie to turn many things into biochar including wood chips, sticks and branches, scrap lumber, wood pellets, cardboard, nuts, bones, etc. The BioCharlie (patent pending) is hand crafted in the USA using American made galvanized steel. It is approximately 18 inches in length with a five inch diameter.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: About how many times can the BioCharlie be used in a fireplace and hold up through the extreme temperatures?**
A: The BioCharlie is made from the same materials used to make stove pipe so it is able to endure high temperatures. The prototype I have been testing for the past year has been in over twenty-five burns and continues to be fully functional and completely sound. For any other comments, questions or concerns feel free to contact America Sequesters CO2 at 716-791-7CO2 (7262)

**Q: About how long would it take this device to convert dry oak pieces into biochar while in a hot fireplace?**
A: It is difficult to give an exact answer with so many variables -Heat of fire, size of oak pieces, moisture content, etc. Just about everything I have tried putting in the BioCharlie has transformed to char during the time of a casual evening fire. Oak will make a good quality biochar. For safety sake, please do not remove the BioCharlie from the fire until it is cold the next day. You don't want to try making several batches of char in one evening by taking it out and reloading it. Thanks for your interest and let me know if you have any further questions!Jim

**Q: Can this be used in a firepit outside?**
A: The biocharlie is an easy well made fire tool. Just have the Biocharlie to the middle of the fire with the vent holes so that venting is free and clear. Venting is important and allows for the gasses to contribute to the flames in a steady and controlled fashion.

**Q: Would BioCharlie work,in propane barbecue grille?,at low temps?Need to try different degrees of char, for different recipes for indian black earth.**
A: Sorry but it will not work in a propane grille. The BioCharlie needs to be used in a wood burning environment such as a wood burning fireplace, wood stove or firepit.

### ⭐⭐ Disappointing quality.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ The BioCharlie makes making Biochar very easy. Excellent product
*by D***A on April 24, 2016*

I got the Biocharlie and just LOVE it to amend my soil and help my plants, trees, organic veg garden to be able to absorb more nutrient and the great thing is you don't have to replenish this because it will last for hundreds of years. (Look up biochar on youtube for excellent how-to info on how great it is for your plants). I make biochar with the BioCharlie every night in my woodstove using old bones and pinecones which we have an abundance of and are free, but I have a challenge that I hope someone out there can tell me how to fix. The end keeps falls off some mornings when I try to remove it from the stove and all my bio char falls into the fire. I am not talking about the end with the handle on it, but the other end. I try to be careful when lifting it out, but it is difficult when it is so hot. Does anyone know how to keep the other end on so I won't lose all my biochar every morning? It is not fun finding and digging my spilled biochar out of the hot ashes and fire. I am concerned that if I weld that end on, that there wont be enough openings for the gasses to escape which is very important. Any Biochar experts out there who know this answer? Thank you PS: I am not complaining as this is a fabulous tough little unit ready made and to make something yourself takes some technical know-how and some time as you can see if you go on youtube for other ways to make biochar.
