Halloween II (1981) - A Novelization Worthy Of The Movie
Halloween II (1981) by Jack Martin is a fantastic adaptation of the movie. A lot of it is word for word from the movie. But there is some stuff in here that's not in the movie such as Laurie's feelings upon remembering that she is Michael Myers' sister and we get a sense in this novelization that Laurie is actually more afraid than she lets on in the movie. But she struggles through her fear and is able to survive Michael's rampage at the hospital (a large part of her survival is due to Dr. Loomis sacrificing himself to stop Michael Myers. Without him showing up when he does, who knows what would've happened to Laurie Strode.). Now none of what I'm saying is a spoiler because everybody who reads this book has most likely already seen the movie. After all the movie and this novelization both came out 42 years ago. If you haven't seen the movie, sorry for any spoilers I might've just gave away 😔. I also recommend watching the movie before reading this book so then you can see the difference between the two as you're reading. There are some things in the book that aren't in the movie but that's par for the course with novelizations. Halloween II (1981) is one of the best sequels I've ever seen and it's my own personal favorite out of the entire Halloween series. It was the very first Halloween movie I ever saw and the first time I saw it was with my Mom when I was 11 years old way back in 1990 on network TV. My Mom let me watch it because it was edited for TV so the gore and the violence were toned way down and there was no nudity. That had been edited out as well. So she had no problem letting me watch the movie with her. It was the first time I ever watched a horror movie with my Mom and that's why that movie is so special to me. This novelization is exactly like watching the movie but with some clarification on some things. I can't say too much without spoiling the book and I would really rather people read it because the book has been out of print for 42 years and to be able to have this chance to read it, even if it is only digitally, is quite wonderful. I don't know how Amazon got their hands on this book and were able to digitize it. But my hats off to them because this was a book I've been wanting to read since I was 11 years old. Thank you, Amazon, for purchasing the license for the novelization of Halloween II (1981) by Jack Martin and making it available digitally for new generations of Halloween fans to read and discover for years to come 🎃.

Good buts it's nearly word for word of the movie.
It's obvious this book was written after the movie was made. The book is leterally word for word of the movie, but still fun to read. There are only a few chapters that are a little different of the movie which give you a little more insight to the story of Michael Myers. Fans will enjoy the book, not sure for people who haven't seen the movie. If you read this book and haven't seen the movie, I am not sure there is enough information to keep track on what is going on. The author expects you to have already seen the movie so it's easy to follow along for fans. Good purchase, but I am not sure I would purchase the other Halloween books to enjoy a good read. People who buy these books are usually just fans and want collectors items.

Awesome adaptation of a classic flick
Martin hit the ball out of the park on this novelization of Halloween II (1981). While Curtis Richard's novelization of Halloween is my favorite, not just of the series, but of horror movie tie-in novels period, Martin's Halloween II is a close runner up for me. It opens with a haunting scene that perfectly evokes the feeling of October 31st, 1978 in Haddonfield. It's so lush and descriptive that you can practically feel the leaves crunching under your feet, smell the last tendrils of smoke curling up from burned out candle stubs inside the jack o'lanterns sitting out on deserted porches and taste the unease on the crisp autumn air. To me, a good movie novelization accomplishes three things: It expands upon the film without being contradictory, it grants the reader a closer insight into the characters in the film, and finally, it must capture the feel and spirit of the film.Martin accomplished all of those objectives in this novelization, and it remains one of my favorites. I heartily recommend it to not only fans of the franchise, but to horror fans period. As a bonus, it is one of the more reasonably priced movie tie-in novels and thus more accessible. Get it while you can.

Halloween II by Jack Martin.
This book is a direct novelization of the movie, with a few added bits here and there. The book actually starts towards the end of the first Halloween, before Loomis finds Laurie and Michael - and not where the actual movie starts. My main gripe was that this book was not a direct continuation of the first book by Curtis Richards. Some of the changes to the story made in the first novel were overwritten in this novel completely. I also feel like the author has a tendency to drone on and on about absolutely nothing. Bits that didn't really expand on the characters or the story. However, if you're a big fan of the Halloween series, I'd recommend giving a read.

Great novel of a good movie sequel
This is the novel of the original Halloween II, and it expands on some of the characters within the movie. I would recommend if you are a fan of the movies.

Horror classic - as a novel too!
Great adaption of the H2 screenplay - and proof that novelizations can be great themselves.

An entertaining but typical tie-in novel
There aren't really many surprises for the die hard Halloween fan like me. As with many tie-in books, it describes scenes that were deleted from the theatrical version of the film. I already knew about those. A lot of them are included in the TV cut of the movie. It's written well and makes for a fun read. And if you're only a casual Halloween fan then you will love all the extra content that isn't included in the theatrical version.
