## Description

The Icon 2295 ST is an iconic Wellington pull-on boot. This industrial boot has a steel toe cap, slip resistant sole and has additional insulation that will help protect the wearer against accidental contact with an electrical charge. Available in an extra-wide, generous fit. This durable slip-on, steel toe boot from Dr. Martens is made for rugged reliability. It features heat sealed welted construction with a standard woodshank, and a slip-resistant PVC outsole that's electrical hazard-resistant. These boots are ANSI/OSHA approved. It all began near Munich, Germany in 1945 when Dr. Klaus Maertens injured his foot in a skiing accident in the Bavarian Alps. To make walking easier during the healing process, he designed a shoe with an air-cushioned sole. Using old rubber tires, he constructed soles that had air trapped within closed compartments. He showed his prototype to his engineer/inventor friend, Dr. Herbert Funck, and together they decided to develop and produce the shoes. Not only did the shoe solve the doctor's immediate problem, but it also started to sell well in Germany. By 1959 the two founders decided that they needed a company to produce and distribute the shoes, then called Dr. Maertens, in other parts of the world. At first, many manufacturers rejected the concept of an air cushioned sole as a short-lived gimmick. However, the R. Griggs Group, located in the village of Wollaston in England, decided to go along with the idea by creating the first work boot with the revolutionary sole. On the first of April 1960, the first cherry red eight-eyelet work boot was produced and named 1460 (1/4/60). To sell the brand name better in England, the name was anglicized to Dr. Martens. The range was branded AirWair and the rest is history.

Review: Love Docs - I love my docs, I had some classics before. I wear a woman's size 11 wide. For fitting the 9 wide works well with thin socks but if you want thicker socks the 10 regular fits well. They tend to run wide to begin with so if you go to the larger size you do not need to get the wide, unless you have very wide feet. They stretch to fit very well. They do take some time to break in. As they have no zippers or laces they can be hard to slip on at first. After a while they are pretty easy, and very comfortable. THe leather is nice and quite waterproof. I went walking through a swamp and came out with dry feet. So I love them. I also got the size 10 regular width in the browns, love them as well. They fit a bit better than the black ones, the black ones are size 9 wide. The size 10 is larger on my foot and needs a thick sock so summer will be hot in those (yes i wear my Docs year round). Looking forward to years of enjoying these ones. My last Docs I got 5 years ago, and I still have them.
Review: Great boots! The pictures don’t do them justice! - The pictures don’t do these boots justice! They are absolutely gorgeous. They are a very good quality boot despite being made in China and not in England. Didn’t know that was a thing. Very comfortable to walk in but it takes a little getting used to the clunky boot. Now it’s time to break them in 👀.. they dig into the back of my heel a little which I solved by wearing thick Winter wool socks! It is February! These boots rock. I feel like I can kick some butt with these on! I also invested in the doc martens brand of clear wax to keep them clean. Just recently tracked through snow and puddles and it cleaned them perfectly. The pics in this post are after the snow trek.. I’ve definitely been putting them to good use since I got them!

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Tight Neck
*by K***N on October 23, 2022*

First these boots are great once you get them on. Unfortunately the neck of the boots are super tight. I went with one size larger because I couldn’t get my foot down the neck of the boot on my correct size. So these are a little roomy once I get them on. It still takes a lot of effort to get my foot down the neck. Every morning I’m cussing these darn things until I get them on lol. I’ve had them for about two months now and use mink oil on them every couple of weeks to soften the leather, protect the stitching from rot, and waterproofing. I really like them, just wish the neck hole was a little wider.
