Love Docs
I love my docs, I had some classics before. I wear a woman's size 11 wide. For fitting the 9 wide works well with thin socks but if you want thicker socks the 10 regular fits well. They tend to run wide to begin with so if you go to the larger size you do not need to get the wide, unless you have very wide feet. They stretch to fit very well. They do take some time to break in. As they have no zippers or laces they can be hard to slip on at first. After a while they are pretty easy, and very comfortable. THe leather is nice and quite waterproof. I went walking through a swamp and came out with dry feet. So I love them. I also got the size 10 regular width in the browns, love them as well. They fit a bit better than the black ones, the black ones are size 9 wide. The size 10 is larger on my foot and needs a thick sock so summer will be hot in those (yes i wear my Docs year round). Looking forward to years of enjoying these ones. My last Docs I got 5 years ago, and I still have them.

Great boots! The pictures donโt do them justice!
The pictures donโt do these boots justice! They are absolutely gorgeous. They are a very good quality boot despite being made in China and not in England. Didnโt know that was a thing. Very comfortable to walk in but it takes a little getting used to the clunky boot. Now itโs time to break them in ๐.. they dig into the back of my heel a little which I solved by wearing thick Winter wool socks! It is February! These boots rock. I feel like I can kick some butt with these on! I also invested in the doc martens brand of clear wax to keep them clean. Just recently tracked through snow and puddles and it cleaned them perfectly. The pics in this post are after the snow trek.. Iโve definitely been putting them to good use since I got them!

Tight Neck
First these boots are great once you get them on. Unfortunately the neck of the boots are super tight. I went with one size larger because I couldnโt get my foot down the neck of the boot on my correct size. So these are a little roomy once I get them on. It still takes a lot of effort to get my foot down the neck. Every morning Iโm cussing these darn things until I get them on lol. Iโve had them for about two months now and use mink oil on them every couple of weeks to soften the leather, protect the stitching from rot, and waterproofing. I really like them, just wish the neck hole was a little wider.

Not steel, comp toe. Nice tho.
I've been breaking them in for about two weeks. At first I thought I would have to return them because I couldn't get my foot in them at all. Took off the socks and got my bare foot in. Super tight, but I know leather will stretch so I toughed it out. Now I can still only wear thin socks but they're breaking in perfectly to my feet. I'm a girl and a loader operator in a gravel plant. I usually wear an 8.5 women's and I got the 7 in these. They've been great for these past few weeks. Hope they hold up. Also, I'm thinking they're composite toe, not steel, but I'm ok with it. If your job is picky about that, you may want to consider ordering directly from dr. Martens website because I think these are mislabeled.

Great boot!
These are great boots! If you have a local retailer near you I recommend stopping by to determine your size, the chart here seems hit or miss. The insoles are the only negative to these boots. They're about 1/8" thick at the heal and are marginally softer than plywood. Seriously, toss them, put in a good set and you will love these boots. Well worth the extra few dollars for good insoles. The leather is thick and strong, will likely require a little break in time for most folks but should hold up well for a long time to come with proper care. I like the Dr. Marten's Wonder balasm to protect and condition the leather keeping them looking and feeling great. The soles are a nice bouncy rubber ideal for long days on your feet. The treads are a bit more aggressive than most "Doc" styles which is great for a work boot. Nice for grip and should wear longer. The padding around the ankle and heal bed is awesome. As a welder by trade I've worn Wellington style slip on boots for years (no laces to burn off) and have never seen a pair with this feature. It offers some protection from knocks to the ankles and gives the feel of a custom fit. Classic Wellington styling combined with that "Doc" flare makes for one heck of a good looking boot.

Just What The Doctor Ordered ๐
This is my third pair of these in fifteen years and they havenโt changed, still excellent. I wear size 14 and they ankle support is always little snug to get my foot past until theyโre broken in, but supports the ankle comfortably for sure. Theyโve never failed me, it just gets to a point after heavy-heavy abuse and no leather treatment after five years they just look best to hell. The sole never separates from the boot. The only thing the has happened on the last two pairs is the leather on the toe wore away exposing the steel toe from kicking so much ass along the way.

Great boot at first does not last long. sizes not consistent
Ordered the size 12 boot after using a size 13 that stretched out too much. The size 12 arrived and was closer to a 10 1/2. Ordered a second pair in 14 and fits perfectly. Doc Marten boots seem to change their sizing standards over the past few years. Otherwise, after a month of hard use in the Arabian desert they still look like new with a splash of water in the sink. They broke in quickly like all dpc marten boots and were form fitted after a couple days use. Never have had a blister or sore foot with these. I would use these at the gym and for running if I didn't look silly doing it. They are more comfortable and have more support than any gym shoe I have used. For a long day trudging around a hot dusty yard, or hours driving a semi truck, or going on a trek thru the mountains, these are well worth it. PS look for the made in UK doc martens, the leather and sewing is much better than the Chinese made ones. I think the UK made doc martens have the word "legacy" in the product description. Update April 20.2011 Have used these boots since October 2010. 7 months. Stitching is coming out, the leather loop on the top has broke on one boot cause the stitching was faulty. The soles on both shoes are coming apart from the shoes. Insole wore out in a month, the inside of the heel where my foot meets the back of the boot has bulged out at the back and split the leather. The boots are no longer comfortable and springy. Disappointed in the quality of Doc Marten. I had other pairs of doc martens shoes that lasted much much longer than this. This is the second pair of bad doc martens in a row. They used to be a good shoe when made in UK now just cheap Chinese junk.

Dr. Martens made these???
Update: I finally received a size that fit! I wear a size 12M in docs, but not in these Icon 2295s - in these I wear a 14M?!? The 12s, waaay too small - couldn't even get 'em on my foot. The 13s, took forever to put on and then even longer to take off - I had to take a break between efforts! The 14M are on and feel OK (just a tad loose), but they haven't been broken in yet either. Will they be too big once that happens? So far, so good. I'm happy with the size 14s. From 12 to 14? Interesting, Dr. Martens. Aaargh! True to size??? Says who? I usually take a 12M in Docs, but in these I needed a 13M. I read an article about how to break in Dr. Martens and it suggested wearing new Docs with thick hiking socks... so I did - tried to at least. Good God! I could NOT get one boot on to save my life! I initially got them on while barefoot, but that was just to make sure they fit. With socks... it was a whole different story - I couldn't get one foot in my boots. If you can find these in a store, try to get them on - you'll more than likely break a sweat trying. I'll try again, otherwise, I'll be returning my second pair of these Dr. Marten Icon 2295s. You dropped the ball on this design, Dr. Marten.

Fit great, immediately comfortable
Arrived 10 days earlier than expected. Fit great, immediately comfortable. Little stiff before breaking in, but I'm used to red wings. Very comfy sole. Will have to see how the flex is once they break in further, and how well they wear.

Misleading size Chart
Shoes looks fine, however their size option to order is a real mess !!! Order a size 7 US, so guessing it's women as the line just prior is explicitly saying 7 US Men, 8 women and no other option correspond to 7 US women and I end up with a 7 US male 8US women... However even with the error it seams way too big. Specially has Dr. Martens is well known to have their size a bit smaller than normal. And yep it's made in China. Had to send them back it coast AUD25 more... :/
