This is one SHARP knife!
Love this knife. Im glad I bought it - even though it drew first blood on me. I used to have one of these a long time ago, and it vanished so when I saw it on sale I just had to snap it up. I was impressed with the quality. The sheath is great, in fact the leather on mine is quite pretty, with a swirly grain pattern... Definitely not a sheath I would expect on an inexpensive knife like this. (Your mileage may vary - remember no two hides are the same) It is SHARP. Insanely sharp. Wickedly sharp. Sharper than I thought it would be. Sharp enough that I accidentally sliced my finger to the bone. Keep this in mind if you are clumsy like me, or if you are gifting it to young sportsmen. I wasn't doing anything stupid with it either, I laid it on the table to look at the sheath, and then reaching for something else accidentally hit the blade and raised a flap right to the bone in a split second of inattention. Its THAT sharp. Considering the job it did on me, I have no doubt it will make dressing my next deer or hog fast and easy.... I'm impressed with the knife, and impressed with the quality. It comes with a pretty nice gift box,. a leather sheath, and a sharpening stone. Its a good hunting knife at a great price. In terms of quality I would say its superior to other knives I've bought for twice the price.

Good Knife for the Price
Overall in spite of some of the negative reviews, this is a nice knife for the money. It feels good in the hand. Has a nice weight to it. And although it ISN'T a full tang, if taken care of and used properly, this knife can provide years of good service to the owner. The Schrade steel comes very sharp and is easy to keep sharp. The handle is finger grooved for easy grasping. The sheath is well made and worth the purchase price alone. It also comes with a wet stone, or if removed, a place for a smaller pocket knife. Yes there is a screw at the top of the handle. Because it's a rat tail. If you prefer one like this, but want a full tang, buy the Buck, the same version runs between $59.00-$99.00 depending on the type of handle. I own about 100 knives. This is a good knife and will make a great addition to your collection and provide years of service if properly maintained. I have an older one that's over 40 years old. Just bear in mind, this isn't a knife to clear a path through the boonies, cut down trees or throw into them. it's a good choice for hunting, camping, even skinning. For this price, well worth owning.

With a little work it is a good knife.
I purchased this knife because of the blade size and shape. 7Cr17 steel is a fairly good stainless steel that will reach a very sharp edge with a little effort. The blade is well formed and accurately ground, but is not sharp out of the box. The handle is a little disappointing. The Staglon feels like plastic, which it is, and overall it is too small for a man's hands, but seems to be comfortable for my wife. The finger grooves do not align with any of my fingers. Fortunately, the handle is easily removed and reworked or replaced. As it comes out of the box, this is what one would expect for a $30 knife; however, with a little work, this can be a very nice knife. The sheath is well made and is adequate. For the use I intend, it is quite good. That was my initial impression of the knife on receiving it. Since writing that review, I have sharpened the knife to my liking. I still sharpen knives the old fashioned way, with stones and muscle. I spent about 30 minutes with this knife and found it to be significantly harder than its advertised HRc of 55-57. From my experience, this blade is probably in the 58HRc range. Considering the effort and care needed to achieve the edge I like, I believe it will hold that edge quite well. If the manufacturing is consistent, I can easily recommend this knife. I will still work on the handle.

Good for the money
It’s a nice looking knife. The leather sheath it came with is nice and sturdy. Together they make a handsome ensemble. It came out super sharp. It carved through a finger width size piece of wood. The handle however is ever so slightly loose. I don’t know how this will the knife over time. Otherwise this may be a keeper.

Nice Knife.
Nice knife for the price. I don't really care for the faux stag scales. And the handle feels good. It came real sharp out of the box . It should serve well enough for many uses. I make custom knives. And this is my go to knife when I head into the woods. I always have a few knives in my pack. But this is the one I wear on my belt. The sheath is of good quality and the stone is a nice touch. It takes a keen edge and is easy to sharpen. I like the blade profile. For the money it is the best deal going. Guts fish and deer a like. Makes quick work of squirrels. I shoot the squirrels with a cold steel blowgun. And I make a pretty mean squirrel stew. Can't go wrong with this knife.

Strongly Recommended
Note ( you will see the same / similar knife review on the ELK RIDGE # ER-027 ). Both are Beautiful!! Both are well made and perform very well for intended purposes. The UH is a bit longer. The UH uses “ Staglon “ handle and the ER says “ simulated “ . I think both are pretty much the same BUT the winner is the UH IMO. The UH reads “ Rat Tail Tang “... so I am going out on a limb and say that the ER is also part of the “ Rat “ family . The UH is made of that 7CR17 high carbon stainless steel —,the ER is just Stainless . ( no real definition of steel listed as of the writing of this review ). The UH has a beautiful brown leather sheath with sharpening stone . The ER comes with a standard black leather sheath ( still nice ). I see why the UH is only about $10 more . I strongly Recommend BOTH !!! Be careful— out of the box Sharp !!! I hope this helps .... **** Update**** The UH is now only $3.00 more as of Oct 2019 . Nice !!

Nice!
Nice knife! Arrived quite sharp with no issues. Very attractive knife that came with a very nice sheath and sharpening stone. I haven’t used the knife so I can’t comment on how well it performs or holds up, but it seems to be well made.

Decent knife for a early adventurer, not real antler handle
I purchased this out of nostalgia, I had one 30 years ago with a real antler handle. Unfortunately this one doesn't (probably said so in the description). Otherwise the sheath appears to be well made, the resin handle is fairly comfortable and is of a reasonably balanced weight. This probably won't see any work but is a nice addition to my collection
