Best Cable Actuated Caliper Brake Out There
These are a great option if you want to continue to run cable actuated brakes but want better performance than a mechanical caliper. I also think they are a great option to use with Campagnolo levers instead of TRP Hy/Rds. The TRPs are the closest comparison to these brakes, in my opinion. I was running TRPs but I could never get the Campy lever feel I wanted without adjusting the TRPs way too far outside the manufacturer's recommended specs. Not wanting to end up in hospital due to brake failure, I decided to give these Origin 8s a try. These are basically rebranded Juin Tech R1/ Yokozuna Motoko brake calipers. They are a closed hydraulic system wherein you still need to do an occasional adjustment for pad spacing, similar to a mechanical caliper. There is a little knob to make the adjustment. The good news is, unless you are riding in super muddy conditions, you wont have to adjust these very often. I usually give a little turn every 5th or 6th ride when I notice my levers pulling a little more than usual. I ride them on a CX bike but could see them working well on an XC bike as well. I like my brake bite high up in the lever travel witha firm lever feel. These work perfectly. They were easy to install and easy to align and adjust. I am running a 160mm front and 140mm rear and have bombed some major hills and trails like Blithedale Ridge and Indians Fire Road on Mt. Tam. These trails required a lot of braking and the calipers had no fade and no problems with my 160lb self. As with the TRPs, it is recommended you run compression-less cables. Lever feel is somewhere between full hydro and mechanical. With Disco Brake green pads they stop amazingly well. The only thing that would make these better is if I never had to adjust the pad. Other than that, they are a solid 5 stars.

It does a nice job
This is a rebrand of Juin tech R1 also rebranded and sold as Motoko's Yokozuna. I was rather skeptical after I received it in part as neither origin or Motoko designed or manufactured plus and it does not feature a way to replace/bleed the fluid by design and there are no adjustments for pre-setting pad clearance other than a screw adjustment to the main fluid piston on the armature. . but there are tiny fluid ports not INTENDED for end user use...It was quite easy to install (post mount for me). Centering was ok using centering inserts I already have around and screwing in the piston screw all the way. I've used em for about a week of hilly commuting and one VERY hilly Flying Wheels century where I had descents getting up to 40mph. Stopping power was quite good compared to TRP spyre it replaced, better I think but didn't feel a risk of inadvertent lockup unlike the three who went down in front of me. I did not experience any fade. I also like how they look, nice and small and out of the way. The resin pads that came with them sucked as I had very discernible wear just from that one ride, replacing today with semi metalic. we'll see how they hold up.

Easy disk brake improvement
I wanted disc brakes on my road bike. I did not want mechanical. I was pleased to find cable actuated hydraulic disk brakes. Easy conversion and much less expensive than the traditional hydraulics.
