This is probably the best ankle stabilizer on the market. Unfortunately, it is not perfect. Here are the good and bad on this device...ADVANTAGES.1. The materials are high quality..2. I have tried other brands. Almost all were similar - thick socks with velcro straps for holding the boot against the foot. Unfortunately, minimizing motion on the ankle - the medical goal of the stabilizer - was not too successful. The ankle continued to roll as it slipped inside the device.The ASO brand is different. It has two long thin plastic webbing that wrap around the ankle in a criss-cross pattern - the company calls them "stabilizing straps." The design replicates a basket-weave athletic taping technique. As a result, there is no slippage because the entire ankle is tightly held in place..3. The extra large velco above the ankle gives additional support and prevents the two stabilizing straps from coming off...DISADVANTAGES.1. The price is higher than competing brands..2. The boot has six sets of eyelets and requires lacing. This is very time consuming. In addition, disabled obese people may need another person's help to put the device on..This problem can easily be solved by replacing the lacing with three long "quick release" velcro straps.
