Hello, Cotinine can be traced in nonsmokers exposed to secondhand smoke. It can be detected in saliva, blood and urine. These test are based on cut off levels. In urine, the concentration of cotinine to distinguish smokers from nonsmokers is 100 ng/mL, although active smokers routinely have a cotinine concentration that exceeds 1,000 ng/mL. can these tests detect alcohol consumption as well?

Hello, Samples are important. Please make sure you are collecting a good sample. Reduce liquids a couple of hours before testing OR test with first-morning urine of the day. Avoid using diluted urine samples to test. You want to immerse test strips to the max line (without exceeding) and hold it there until you see the dye begin to rise up into the test window THEN remove.
