WONDERFUL WORLD OF RELATIVITY P: A Precise Guide For The General Reader

This is my new favourite book on SR. In the paperback's preface the author states that "The book presents the description of space and time that we call 'relativity', and it is intended to be both precise and accessible". I found it just so. In particular I thought that it got across the relative nature of simultaneity very well. The author suggests a few physical tasks to do which helped me with the learning process.

Generally, I don't write any reviews, but for this one I thought I must write. This is an outstanding book on relativity. Author elegantly described it with high school math. I have an IT background, but my love for physics leads me to reading whole lots of books for the last 25 years. I have no hesitation to say that this is the best book on the subject I have ever read. Other books either become too descriptive without any math, or become inaccessible for me because of the maths involved. This book has the right balance.

Now going into my third year of undergraduate physics I wish I had bothered to read it sooner, in my first year, because it would have greatly helped my understanding. I can't wait to get through the next book by Steane, Relativity Made Relatively Easy. Definitely approachable to a keen and engaged GCSE/A Level student.

A curious way to tackle relativity, headfirst straight in with space time diagrams ! Me ? I like to clear the concepts first then tackle the maths bits. Maybe I'll like it better when I give it a second chance one stormy night.
