This lantern provides exceptional light!!!!! We are not campers however, the power in our house unfortunately goes out more than we would like. We purchased this lantern for our home and was shocked at the amount of light it provided. And the bonus was we were able to charge our cell phones during the unexpected outages. We were so impressed we began informing our neighbors, family and friends of this lantern. We even sent this lanterns to several of our friends!!!

Once loaded with batteries, it performs very well. Perfect if your electricity goes out. It shines bright ( has several settings) and is portable. It will also charge your cell phone, again, ideal for when you lose power or are out camping somewhere.

This is a well made lamp that seems to do what it advertises. There are three levels of brightness and the most bright will light a large room. It also charges a cell phone. My phone was down to 79% and it recharged it in 1 hr. Online discussions suggest a typical cellphone requires 15watt hours to charge. This lamp requires 6 D batteries which gives you about 200 watt hours. So I think this lamp can give serious illumination and charge the phone at the same time. I’ll have to do some tests to really be confident in it but that’s an awesome thing to have in an emergency. And people are right that it’s a pain to replace the batteries. They didn’t make it easy to fit the bottom piece back on and then close it. They need to redesign that part. But patience and practice will make it work. Don’t force it.

I particularly like the "charge your phone" feature

Couldn’t find the exact one I had so I bought two more as close as I could to the other same brand , slightly smaller and holds less batteries! Using them for lighting when the power goes out! Found out the charger in the side doesn’t work with everything that takes that type of hook up! Lucky I bought them more for the light they put out! So with less batteries one board I expect them not to last as long, time will tell!

I used AA to D cell adapters, so I could use my collection of rechargeable AAs, even with 12 or 18 AAs this runs for an entire weekend campout or two. Not the Brightest light I have, but a good substitute for the old Coleman lanterns we used to use. With rechargeable batteries I feel fine leaving this on all night as an area light.

After a recent power outage in my neighborhood, one of my neighbors mentioned that every house on the street except mine was dark. She said mine was lit up just as bright as if we had power and the regular lights were on in my house. Needless to say, she needed lanterns, and ended up buying 3 of them!

Works great and nice to know it will be there if the power goes out.

Listing does not mention a built in battery, but just want to make people aware in case they confuse this with another model that has one. Aside from this, the build quality seemed average.
