How long will this keep the sulfur smell at bay?

Chlorine will kill sulfate producing bacteria which often causes the rotten egg odor along with other bacteria. Customers who use this product report it completely clears up the smell for anywhere from one week to a year. Most customers say the spring and fall treatment keeps their well odor-free.

what are the active ingredients and at what percentage for each?

These are listed on the bottles as Calcium Hypochlorite: 73%. Also, this product is often used with iron-laden water. It does oxidize the iron in your water which is a rust color. When flushing the excess chlorine from the well, the oxidized iron is typically also flushed. Many customers use this product to reduce iron buildup.

How many gallons will one kit treat? My well is 405’ deep with the water level at 34’. That gives a column of about 562 gallons in a 6” bore.

To produce a 100-ppm chlorine concentration, use 2 oz. sanitizer pellets or granules for each 100 gallons of water in the system. (2oz. granules = 56 Pellets). The bottles have 8oz each for a total of 16oz. You would need 11.2oz to treat 562 gals. 5.6oz of each (granules and pellets). So one pack would treat your well.
