I was extremely worried about buying this rack for only $80 compared to all the other ones I saw. The positive reviews convinced me to give it a try. Simply put, this bike rack is more than worth triple the cost in my opinion because of how heavy duty and solid it is. The locking pins fit perfectly into the receiver and once in place with three adult bike loaded it barely moved the entire trip. If I could give it 10 stars I would and I feel it would still be an understatment of the quality. The bike hold down straps worked perfectly except the frame on one bike had a large tube so my wife made a couple longer straps to add just incase. If you are looking for a quality bike rack, it's my opinion that you shouldn't pass this one by!!

This is a surprisingly well-built bike carrier for the price. Comparing the pictures in the customer reviews with the carrier I received, it's obvious that the product has gone through several structural improvements over time. That's a good thing. Positives compared to other carriers in this price range: 1. Built stronger with a beefy cross-brace at the hitch. 2. Single beefy carrier arm versus dual flimsy carrier arms on other carriers 3. The metal angle pieces on which bikes sit are definitely stronger than the plastic anchors on other carriers. The soft plastic inserts inside the angles to prevent scratching is an added bonus. 4. The heavy duty woven velcro straps are stronger than the stretchy plastic/rubber straps on other carriers 5. The quick release pins that are used to fold the carrier are attached to the carrier with metal cables so you won't lose them. That's a nice touch. 6. Many carriers need an anti-rattle tightener as an additional purchase, but this is already designed to be a tight fit with the hitch so it's not needed. But it does have a few cons: 1. The velcro straps are too short for larger diameter frame tubes. You only get about 1/2" of velcro engagement with some mountain bikes. That's a recipe for disaster. It's easy enough to supplement with short lashing straps, but it's something to watch out for. 2. The anti-rattle is achieved using a threaded hitch pin (bolt rather). But this needs to be re-tightened after long drives which makes it less effective than a hitch tightener. Some people may prefer this since it's a single bolt versus two nuts on a hitch tightener, but I personally prefer a hitch tightener since it stays tight much longer. 3. The carrier has a feature where you can remove a pin to swing it down and access the trunk. With some other carriers, you can do this slowly with the bikes still attached. This carrier swings a little too much out of the way so I would be a lot more wary of leaving bikes on it when doing so. 4. It's almost always possible to fit 4 bikes if you experiment long enough, but it's a tight fit. This is pretty much a given for any 4-bike carrier since every inch of length added to the carrier tube adds a lot more stress to the carrier, which would require a much more beefy and heavier carrier. Fit: I carried 2x 700c adult bikes, one 24-inch mtb and one 20-inch mtb, all facing the same direction and all right side up, and it did great. Three of the bikes were low-entry so they sat on the bottom tube. It took me a few minutes the first time to 'tetris' the handle bars and pedals, but after finding the ideal configuration, it only takes about 2 mins to get them all up or down. Overall this was a great buy and I would recommend it to anyone.

This is our first bike rack; I also installed a new hitch on our minivan in order to mount this for our first camping trip. It seemed to work great. Once fully installed and all parts tightened down, it felt secure and I was as confident as I think I could be to drive on the freeway. I was not able to fit all four bikes on it (One adult men's bike, one adult female, one teen, and one child's bike), but I imagine that's just the combination of bikes we have and not anything to do with this rack which appears to have standard spacing for a bike rack. I was able to fit the 3 largest bikes and put the kids bike in the van, which was good enough for our purposes. Overall we're happy with this purchase.

I bought this bike rack after an exhaustive search. I was looking for an inexpensive 4-5 bike hitch mounted rack to carry (1) adult mens bike, (1) teenage girls bike, (1) female beach cruiser, (1) boys "racing" type bike and maybe the little ones 14" bike. I set my budget at $100 because it was going to be mounted on my RV and if I went with a bigger name brand that would be a higher theft item. I don't know if theives prefer big name brands or not. But at the time my theory was sound to me. Of the racks that I did find in or close to my price range, most people complained that they were difficult to put together, they needed to be modified or that once it was installed it moved around a lot. I do base a lot of my purchase around what other people say because if they had those problems then I would probably have those problems too. I understand that it is not always the case but why take the chance, right? Contrary to what I said above, I took a chance on this one which had no reviews. I figured for the price, I will be the guiney pig. I bought the 4 bike because the 5 bike was not available for when I wanted it. The shipping was fast (normal delivery) and it was very easy to put together. It was lightweight and portable. I mounted it on my RV using a Master lock hitch pin but it comes with 2 different size hitch pins which I didn't use due to the fact they were not locking pins. I mentioned earlier about theft. The Hitch pin will only keep theives from stealing the whole unit together. If someone really wanted to they could just unbolt it and take everything. You can only protect yourself so much. Gotta have a little trust. Anyway, due to the size of the bikes with the accessories, I was only able to put 3 of the bikes on the rack. It could hold one more but the mens bike had a child seat frame on it, the beach cruiser had a basket on it, and the boys bike had bear claw pedals. So much going against me while trying to preserve the integrity of the bikes and the paint! As for the rest, I did not have a rear view camera on the rig so I used two ratchet straps to secure the bikes to the hitch and then wrapped a cable lock around the bikes. I took 3 of the 5 bikes on the hitch mounted rack on a 200 mile drive to go camping and they did not move at all. Everytime that I stopped I checked the straps, pins and bikes themselves and it looked just like when I first mounted it. The same is said from when we had to come all the way back home. It does articulate for access to a back window or tailgate but on my RV I didn't require those features. On the down side, if you want to mount the bikes so they all look even, you would have to buy an additional bar for a ladies bike. The bar takes the place of where there is no bar on the bike unlike on most mens bikes. It also makes it even for weight distribution and so the bike can be mounted closer to each other. I'm sure there are more reasons but I've written a lot already. I did not buy the additional piece and it worked just fine for me. For the price, I would recommend this item to anyone that is interested in a low cost hitch mounted bike rack. As a matter of fact I plan on purchasing another one due to the fact that just recently someone burn't down my RV when it was in storage. Surprisingly enough, the one thing that looked like it came out somewhat intact minus the rubber, straps and the lock nuts was the bike rack!

I previously tried to use one of the "universal" style bike racks that will fit a passenger car or an SUV and didn't even begin to trust it to drive across town, much less on the long trips I was going on. I bought this in preparation for an out-of-state camping trip to the mountains my girlfriend and I were going on, and it arrived on time as advertised. Assembly was very easy and took maybe 15 minutes total with a few basic hand tools (allen keys, socket set, and wrenches). I have an extra trailer wiring harness and I may see about wiring a brake light up to attach to the flat plate on the end rather than just having a red reflector on it. I've driven over 1400 miles in two weeks with the bike rack on my 4Runner and had zero issues of any kind, with and without bikes on the rack. I'd say my road time was split 80% highway (70-90mph), 15% twisty mountain roads (lots of up and down hill, sharp curves, braking and acceleration), and 5% off-road driving, and the bikes didn't move around in the rack at all. The wheels or handlebars of either bike never contacted my vehicle, either, and during the trip I secured them in every one of the four slots, just to make sure (my bike has 28" wheels and hers has 26" I believe). You may have to remove water bottle attachments though, my Bontrager bottle cage barely fit on the rack (I never use it anyways, so I removed it when we got home, no big deal). The mounts that the bikes sit in are VERY secure and attach to the rack itself with crush washers and lock nuts. The velcro straps that wrap around the bike frame seem to be of good quality and absolutely hold the bikes 100% still. The vertical portion of the rack folds down with the pull of the hinge pin to about a 45 degree angle to allow you to open your rear door/hatch with ease, and mine cleared it with ample room to spare. This was great when it came time to unload the car at our camping destination and for loading it back up to head home again. I only found a few "negatives" during the assembly and use of this bike rack, but none of them were enough of a problem to distract from the rating based on things that actually mattered to me. The first was that some of the nuts that went with the actual bike holders (which attach to the rack itself) were metric and the bolt heads were standard/SAE. This wasn't a big deal, just a bit of an annoyance. The second downside is that the top hinge pin (which allows the part of the rack the bikes sit on to fold down so it doesn't stick out two feet behind your vehicle) will only insert into the vertical part of the rack from the left side when the rack is folded. When the rack is extended out to the rear, it will fit from the right side. Again, just an annoyance, nothing that would affect the usability. The third is there is some play in the fit between the mount and my hitch receiver. When there is no load (bike) on the rack and you move it by hand, it seems very loose. I didn't notice any noise or movement while driving with the rack on my vehicle, whether empty or with bikes loaded. The fourth downside is it seems like the receiver pin that holds the mount into the hitch receiver itself is a smaller size than the one for my regular 2" ball hitch mount. When I assembled it and put the rack into the receiver, the regular pin wouldn't go through. I haven't removed it to compare them yet though, so I could be incorrect and maybe just had a bad angle on it. Overall, I absolutely recommend this rack. I was blown away at the quality of the product for the price (seems like a comparable rack would cost $100-200+ at a bike shop or other online stores) and I've had nothing but good luck with it thus far with quite a bit of drive time over varied terrain. Buy with confidence!

It’s heavy, but it’s cheap and feels robust at least. My biggest gripe, and the ding on stars, is the main hitch pin is proprietary with threads. I can’t use my locking hitch pin. Why? Makes no sense.

Great bike mount that works well with kids bikes! I was looking for an option with a single pole instead of two since my kids bikes were too narrow to fit on the style with two poles. This one is very stable and I was able to install it in about 15 minutes. The straps are Velcro and strong. Overall very happy with this purchase so far!

***3rd UPDATE *** I tried fitting 3 mountain bikes and they do fit and 4 may be possible although I probably won't do it with more expensive bikes and risk them getting banged up or scratched. If you're buying a lock for this, make sure you get the 1/2 inch one. The 5/8" fits my tow hitch but it DOES NOT fit this rack. I learned that the hard way and assumed it was good. The length should also be at least be 3". ***UPDATE! RUST STARTING TO SHOW*** I added a few pictures of the nooks and crannies showing rust. These places weren't scratched or damaged but more than likely were not painted properly during manufacturing. It's a minor "repair" via a good can of anti-rust spray paint but I didn't expect to be doing that until a year or so down the line. It's still a good product IMO but hopefully this was a one-off and not a reflection of their whole product. **************************************************** Although it's advertised as a rack for 4 bikes, I think it's a tight fit for adult-sized ones. I'm only using it for 2 and I place it on the edges and leave the middle unused. It was fairly easy to install even for one person but you would need an allen wrench to tighten some of the screws. It's sturdy and looks like it'll last for a long time. Although it doesn't come with a lock for the rack itself, I ordered a separate one to make sure this doesn't go missing while I'm parked and biking around. The bikes are placed on top of a rubber/hard plastic "filling" to protect it from scratches. They are held in place by 2 "velcro" straps which are quite strong and will keep the bikes secure while you're traveling to your destination. Since these will pretty much be exposed to the elements, I'm expecting these straps to last only a year or two. It's easily replaceable with bungee cords or straps which I also ordered to use as an additional "back up" strap for my peace of mind. Overall, if you're only using this for 2 or 3 bikes, it's well worth the money.

This is a really good value bike rack, sturdy, easy to put together, easy to attach, simple yet safe to use. Unbeatable value from a brand I trust. It folds and lowers easily so we have been using it with our swing door RAV4 without any problems. Instead of riding our nearby park trails, we have since been able to explore beautiful bike trails all over Southern Ontario. Very happy with the purchase. Highly recommended if you are looking for functionality and good value. It looks good, too.

Eigentlich ne coole Idee aber halt für EBikes nicht. Habe es an drei ausprobiert und keines auf den Halter gebracht weil er einfach zu groß ist, um zwischen Federung und Rahmen einen Platz zu finden.

Very well made, solid construction, durable design, was disappointed as did not fit my Motor home with spare wheel & Towbar design. Return item to my local amazon store At Asda coventry, and was delighted with the service I received. The money was transferred into my bank account buy the time i left the store.

I have used this bike mount for about a year. I have used it to transport 4 bikes with no issue, but the big test was taking two VERY heavy e-bikes to the mountains about 5 hours away. The mount exceeded my expectations, and held the e-bikes firmly. The only issue is that the provided straps are a little bit short for thicker frames. I simply used a tie-down strap to secure the e-bikes to the mount, and it worked great! I've recommended this mount to my co-workers and friends as a low-cost option for transporting bikes!
