**Q: Ingredients: Water, Stevia extract, natural flavors. What exactly are the added "natural flavors"? Please no guessing, only answer if you know.**
A: If they say the natural flavors are a proprietary blend, they could be almost anything that could be classified as a natural flavor, which usually are far from natural--they could be the same chemical as an artificial flavor, but they can call it a natural flavor if it is derived from a plant or animal source, and then processed with catalysts and solvents and preservatives to come up with the same chemical, for example, vanillin. You would often be better off just having the pure artificial ingredient. In this case the natural flavorings are probably one or more of the numerous highly refined stevia extracts. It could even be something like neotame, an artificial sweetener which is an analog of aspartame, and is 8000 times sweeter than sucrose, 40 times sweeter than aspartame. Or something called advantame, another analog of aspartame, that is 20,000 times sweeter than sucrose. Both of neotame and adantame have been approved by the FDA years ago for use in foods and beverages in the United States. And it's possible because they can be used in such small amounts, they would not have to be listed as an ingredient or could be listed as flavor modifier rather than a sweetener.

A: So according to the representative that I spoke with...listing the ingredients in their "natural flavors" will giveaway their formulations.  Well...that is not true.  There is no way I am going to spend my time to figure out their formula.  Also, it prevents people from determining if they (the consumer) is allergic to any chemical in their product.  So, in my opinion, buy the Whole Foods brand.

A: i used to work in a food lab and have done a lot of work with taste masking stevia. there are different grades of Reb-A (The sweet component of stevia). the 97% purity has more aftertaste (due to the impurities). the 99% purity is much better and has A LOT less aftertaste.

I have used SweetLeaf Sweet Drops for 5 or 6 years every morning in my coffee. With the dropper that is provided I always get exactly the right amount. I often have oats and fresh fruit, and 5 or 6 drops of the flavored Stevia and cinnamon makes the most delicious and satisfying breakfast. At first, the only product i ever tried was root beer, which I really liked....I added it to San Pellegrino water and in the summer found it very refreshing.....my daughter bought it for me...when I saw that they were $10 for a 2 oz bottle when i doubt wether my daughter paid more than $5 a few years ago, I looked for something less expensive..... I tried the chocolate raspberry flavor(which was 35% off) but it was horrible, tasting like vile cough medicine....I was surprised when I asked to return it and they sent me the link and gave me a refund....so, I tried this flavor and I like it just as much as the root beer flavor...since its mostly stevia and vanilla flavoring, I was wondering what would happen if i added stevia and vanilla extract to my water, but that's for another day...
