Review: Great pads - I looked for these pads in the store but they did not have the size needed for my son. He is 8 years old and in the 50th percentile for both height and weight. The sizes on the box are very accurate. I would not recommend having pads larger than recommended as they will slide off if not sized right. My son is in football for the first time. His arms were taking a beating. In addition other kids have been getting hit in the elbow by helmets. These pads, though not as thick as others, work fantastic. They help disperse the impact and keep his elbows and upper arms from getting hurt. I highly recommend these pads. They do not interfere (at least in my opinion) with his catching the ball. They are not to bulky and he can still bend at the elbow pretty easily although it did take 1 practice to get used to the feel. **UPDATE** I am very pleased with these pads. During the season they endured being worn the entire football season, were torn off inside out as only an 8 year old can do, washed multiple times and still retained their shape and protection qualities. They prevented his arms from getting black and blue. I purchased another pair of these same pads for him the next year. They are not big or bulky like other knee pads. They stay in place and do wash. The first pair lasted over a year. This is my second pair and I would not get any other knee pad because they work so well. There are little hex shaped pads inside closely together to protect from injury. When she has fallen she no longer brusies. She says they are comfortable and she does not feel the impact of the floor. Because they have worked so well we bought them for our youngest and she equally likes them as well. They have a tight fit so when ordering take that into consideration. I ordered a large for my oldest and a medium for my youngest. I figured it was worth a shot right? I am torn on how to review them, for one daughter they held up well (she is less prone to diving for balls). The other daughter who is a varsity Libero and constantly diving for balls, they did not hold up as well. They both have loved the fit and they have been put to the test of repeated knee landings and have not had sore or bruised knees. I love the fact that after a very busy club season *THEY DON'T SMELL*!! I am sure the reason that they are not smelling is due to the fabric that they are made of which is why one set has multiple holes. When I asked them What i should buy for the upcoming high school season...
