What is the difference between classical and flamenco strings?

Flamenco black nylon strings are darker, warmer, and more mellifluous on most classical guitars. If your classical is bright and forceful they are dream because they find a happy medium. If your guitar is already warm and dark they don't really work.

I'm new to Flamenco and was told to buy Normal tension - but can't find it on Amazon. So, what's the difference between Custom tension and Normal?

You would be best served by buying normal tension since you are new to Flamenco. Varying tension strengths means different levels of pitch to a large extent. In these days manufacturing is so accurate and so advanced musicians can acheieve sounds they want by using different tensions, usually a specfic set of tensions on a specific guitar. You could easily buy two sets of normal strings and one set of custom and change them about if you wanted to experiment. But best to start with norma alnd experiment later as you develop technique.

are these rectified nylon strings?

I believe D'Addario packaging indicates whether or not the contents are rectified.

Trying to adapt a steel string guitar to nylon strings, would these work? Thanks.

No. There are folk style nylon strings that have the little nubs on the ends that let them fit into the bridge with pins similar to steel strings. These classical strings have to be tied into the bridge.
