Why did you pick this product vs others?: Arrived day early. Well packaged, and double sealed. Value for money: 10 cents per seed is a great price. Expecting good results. Very reputable company.

I bought a 500-seed Giant Sequoia pack a couple months back, and this is what I did to stratify (i.e. prep the seeds) and grow the sprouts here in Austin TX in July. 1. Soaked about 1/2 the pouch (around 200 seeds) in clean water for about 24-48 hrs at room temp. 2. Put a wet paper towel at the bottom of a plastic tupperware container. 3. Placed the wet seeds on the paper towel and spread them evenly across. 4. Placed a second piece of wet paper towel on top of the seeds, like a sandwich. 5. Poured out any drops of excess water from the plastic container. 6. Closed the container with an airtight lid, then placed it in the fridge. 7. Waited 3 weeks. 8. Took it out of the fridge and placed it on the counter at room temp around 74 F. 9. After about 10 days on the counter, I would say at least 40% of the seeds sprouted. Some already had green needles coming out. I dropped those in some sandy, potting mix, while I left the rest of the unsprouted seeds in the container. (Some pots had extra peat moss. I think the additional moisture from the peat was a mistake and caused some sprouts to die/rot. Careful if your mix retains too much water). 10. After 2 weeks on the counter, I would say at least 75% of the original seeds sprouted. Which turns out to be a lot!! What the heck am I supposed to do with 150 sprouts?! Some online resources said sequoias were notorious for only being 10% viable. 11. Can't say for certain if these are genuine sequoiadendron giganteum, we'll have to trust the seller. Otherwise, I'll return here to let you know in a 100 yrs or so.

Very happy with the Sequoia seeds. I tried multiple methods of germination. All resulted in sprouts. Surprising the most successful was simply soaking the seeds in water for 30 hours, then planting them in a little pod of dirt. And skipping cold stratification. I'm using my own dirt mixture but Kellogg's palm, cactus, and citrus is a good soil for these trees if your just starting out and not mixing your own soil yet. It's well draining. You need a led grow light. A window is not enough. They don't cost much and your baby Sequoias will thank you. This is an excellent thing to do with your kids and give back to the planet. These trees are pretty hardy and you can check and see if they can grow in your area. You might be surprised where they can grow. Be patient. They take a while to sprout. Plant several seeds per dirt pod because Sequoia seeds have a low germination rate. If you do get multiple per dirt pod, congratulations, carefully remove the extras and put them in their own. i did 2 batches of seeds one the way i always grow seed and the other i followed their instructions to the letter my way i got about 8 to grow and their way i got nothing to gemmate, very disappointed in the results. and from my rough count on how many seeds i did get i would say i recived only 300ish so not really closed to the 500... as listed on the order dont buy form this company its a waste of your money

Tossed the entire package of seeds with field-capacity coir in a ziploc bag and placed them in the refrigerator for cold-stratification for just over three weeks. The seeds started sprouting in the bag of coir about three days later, and over the course of the following week or so I fished out the sprouts and placed them in peat pots. I stopped at 70 (I wanted only 50), but many, many more were still sprouting.

I got about 10% germination rate with cold stratifying followed by wet paper towel which is normal for these. Tips: Sequoia seedlings are exremely prone to damping-off disease. Use sterile pots, sterile medium, keep them WARM- 75 Degrees, and keep them away from other plants which harbor the damping-off spores. Water from below so you don't get soil particles up onto the stem. Light with a flourescent or LED light a couple inches above the seedlings. "Near a window" is not enough light!

I bought two 5000 seeds packets and most of them did sprout at all. I am not happy and tying to contact MySeeds.Co. thru their page is not possible.I do not mean to bug them but beside my comment i find several other that show discontent. Has anybody got ther money back or at least a replacement order?

I have germinated hundreds of seeds before…. Not a single one in my $25 pack germinated, and I tried about 7 different techniques. I was very sad.
