High Quality pump, great with thick oil through dipstick hole.
This pump is high quality and really does a great job with thick fluids through the dipstick hole. I needed a pump to change the transmission oil on my Nautique (inboard boat). I researched heavily and saw plenty reviews of the cheaper plastic pumps where people said they leaked, came apart, didn't pump, etc. Most people with the cheaper pumps said it took them 30 minutes to pump 1 Qt of oil, that's crazy slow. I ended up buying this pump.I didn't run my boat beforehand to warm up the oil, so it was very thick. The small tube fished down the dipstick hole with ease and had plenty of length to spare. It took 2 pumps to prime the pump, after that I was getting 1/8 Qt oil per pump. I was able to extract 2 Qts of oil in only 15 pumps (about 3 minutes). This pump works great. When using the pump, pull the handle all the way out and hold it there until it finishes drawing the liquid into the cylinder. Once you feel the pressure is gone you can pump it back in, which will eject the liquid through the larger hose.

Hard work to remove oil
I previously used a full size extractor, but switched to this pump to save space. While it will drain the oil from my boat engine it's slow and hard work.

Great little pump
One of the best made small pumps that I've used. Pumping out used motor oil with the small tube is tedious, but it gets the job done. The small hose is useless for moving gear lube. I purchased some 5/8" clear silicone hose to use when filling transmissions and ptos, etc.(I like being able to see the lube in the discharge tube so I don't spill oil all over). Plus, the large diameter hose allows for fast filling.

difficult to pump oil out of marine engine.
i used this pump to remove oil from a marine engine. It took over an hour to remove a single quart of oil. I researched this pump ahead of time and saw a review that said this person pumped 2 quarts of cold oil out in 15 minutes with only seven pumps. My expectation was that it would be easy to get the oil out, but that is not the case I tried to pump cold oil and it took over a 100 pumps to get one quart of oil. disappointing.

Jabsco 34060-0010 hand Pump is a dissappointment
Hand pump was purchased to remove oil from a marine engine. The pump worked OK but the hose fitting on pump inlet became loose with the warm oil (Oil temperature was about 110F)and kept slipping off the end of pump causing significant oil mess that had to be cleaned up. Because there is a jerking motion with this kind of pump I could not recommend if for its advertised application. Moreover, it was difficult to keep the discharge hose in the oil container because of the hand pumping action. If I were going to buy another hand pump I would consider only those that had a collection reservoir integrated with the pump. I have purchased an oil extraction system that uses a vacuum to draw oil into a six gallon tank. The time savings with no oil mess more than makes up for the addition cost. Conclusion: an inexpensive oil extraction hand pump such as this product is not worth the price even if it were free.
