A Highly-Recommended Investment in Your Family's Health
High quality and produces great-tasting water. Leaving behind substances I didn't expect! We have a whole-home water filtration system which removes minerals from our water source. I know that some stuff (like chlorine and fluoride) will get past it, so I bought the distiller in hopes of eliminating those from our drinking water. I have been pleasantly surprised to see there is a residue and odor left behind with each batch I distill. I have yet to learn what the substance is, but for now I'm satisfied it's being removed from our drinking water. There's a noticeable difference in the taste and clarity of the water between the distilled and tap. This was unexpected, too, as I thought I might have to convince myself that the water is better. But the first time I poured the distilled water I could see how much clearer it was and a frequent house guest volunteered the same commentary. The water also tastes really good, so my family is naturally drinking more of it. The combination of the distiller and carafe is bulky for the kitchen in our 1970s split-level home, so we moved it to a sun porch and close the door while it's running. While the distiller isn't obnoxiously loud while running it's similar to hearing a box fan on low power. This has the potential to get on your nerves, so I recommend following the manufacturer's advice and either running this during sleep or running it in a closed-off room. One bit of warning is this is an investment of time over taking water from the tap. You need to fill up the carafe, wait several hours for a gallon of water, and wipe down the distiller or clean it after use. It's taken us a few weeks to get into the flow of a manageable schedule. I was cleaning the distiller with soap and water or distilled white vinegar after each use, but that was starting to get to the point where the work to maintain the unit was outweighing the value of the water. So what I've landed on for now is I'll wipe down the inside of the unit after each use (takes 10 seconds) and I'll running a cleaning cycle and install a fresh activated carbon pod once per month. I think that should be manageable. We're also still sorting out water storage. It's not recommended (by me) that you spend time and electricity distilling water and then put it in a plastic container, where chemicals can leach into it. Even BPA-free units can have other chemicals which can make it into the water. We tried a 3-gallon stainless steel fusti with a tap in our fridge but the fusti took up a lot of space and leaked and finding any water dispenser which doesn't have leaking issues is actually a challenge. What we're doing for now is buying a second glass carafe. We'll have one in the fridge, for our drinking water needs, and another at the distiller, ready to collect distilled water. While the unit is not inexpensive and takes a little getting used to, to work into your life, I recommend keeping in mind this is an investment in your health. We're getting great value out of it in terms of removing junk from the water and encouraging our family members to drink more great-tasting water instead of packaged drinks. My parens regularly buy gallons of distilled water. We worked out that if they bought a distiller it would pay for itself - in the money saved over buying those gallons - in about six months. And the water from the distiller is not stored in plastic jugs, which can leach chemicals. I highly recommend this product. It's a great investment.

Good choice for distilling water at home
Update to my earlier review. Sill 5 stars, but here is what we've learned since we bought the unit. If I start a batch first thing in the morning, I can start another in the early afternoon, and a third before bed. Obviously a batch every evening is convenient however, things happen or we get distracted. No worries, with a little time management I can make 3 gallons in one day, with no plastic jugs to buy and recycle. Super happy! Feb 2025. The H2o Labs distiller has been in use at our home for about a month now, and we like it a lot. We go thru a moderate amount of distilled water due to a medical condition and cringed every time we went shopping to bring home another 10 plastic jugs. So far, using this distiller is quite easy to use and clean. It does make a whirring sound as the cooling fan runs so we located it in a room we use less often. It routinely outputs slightly over a gallon per batch. We've learned that with a phone reminder every morning around 9am, we can generate 2 batches in 12-13 hours if we are paying attention. This means as we accumulate extra distilled water, soon we will only need 1 batch per day and have plenty on the shelf. Recommend keeping clean used gallon jugs with screw on tops for good seal and spill protection. Overall, we like this H2o distiller a lot, and it was very affordable compared to other options.

Fantastic machine!
This superseded its' description in leaps and bounds. Great little machine well worth investing into. Very happy with the flavor of our water now. It's so clean and delicious having all the silt and excess minerals removed. We have well water and it's amazing how much 'junk' is in it. It also explains why the husband has had so many kidney stones and bladder issues. So glad we bought this! Update! We've had this wonderful machine since June 12th and have used it religiously every day. We are 64 years old, so not Popeye's by any means, but our energy level is amazing now. The husband and I have been going non-stop on outside projects, and we are lifting 350 pound awnings for a mare's motel all by ourselves!!! I kid you not. He was riddled with RA a year ago, and now it's arrested and he feels like he's 20 again. I have degenerative disk disease, and am a short 5' 5", yet I'm climbing horse corrals and lifting these monster 8' by 24' long enormous trussed horse awnings like I'm superwoman. This water is freaking unbelievable!!! We sleep like babies now--and in 44 years of marriage we've seldom slept that well. My husband had two huge kidney stones diagnosed before we started the distilled water--they are now gone!!! The gunk we see on the bottom of the machine tells us how much crap is in well water, and our well is 750' down. We do take supplements as we are not getting the minerals, but now we are thinking there were too many minerals and too much sand and other nasty unknowns that was making the water unhealthy. Mind you, we dove into this 'experiment' with open minds but not expecting much. We are still pinching each other in disbelief that we erected four of those enormous awnings completely by ourselves and zero pain the next day. ZERO! We drink it constantly as we crave it. For tasteless water, it is so very gratifying. I like tea with lemon, or just the water on ice with lemon and it is so darn good. Prior to this you couldn't get me to touch water for nothing. I was a diet coke gal, twice daily. Anything but water. Now all I want is this water. Weight loss, oh yeah! About 5 lbs in two months. Toxins literally pour out of us every day when we shower. Unbelievable! I know there's not a lot of information about the benefits of distilled water which is why we didn't expect much, but now that we have drank it religiously for over two months we feel absolutely wonderful. Another perk I've noticed is no morning brain fog when I wake up. But here's the real proof. Both of us had pretty bad blood pressure checkups prior to doing this, so we decided it would be fun to keep a written list of daily blood pressure tests for the both of us. He was always in the 150s or higher, and I have a problem with my temper so I would skyrocket into the 170s. Neither of us are heavy by any means either. Just stress from daily issues. Anyway, those readings have both plummeted to a lovely normal reading for the past two weeks for the both of us. If that's not proof of improvement, I don't know what is. So those nay-sayers that think distilled is horrible--what do you think they use for wine, beer, etc.? Duh! It's all distilled.

Great value for the money!
This unit is more expensive than some but highly recommended for it reliability and long life. Several reviews indicate that it could last 10 years or more! I’m very pleased with the build quality and ease of use. I use it every week (starting with soft water) and cleaning is easy - just wipe out with a paper towel. Every 10 cycles or so, I use the cleaning chemical supplied to remove minor water deposits.

Works if you work it
This unit has been running almost nonstop for a year. The glass caraffe broke right away, but that was my own fault. It's likely not tempered glass, as there's no need. I had put it (just the caraffe) in the freezer thinking the water would cool faster, then I accidentally bumped it on a brick of steak taking it out and knocked a hole out of the bottom. No big deal, I use a gallon mason jar to catch the water now. I scrub the kettle after every single use, so it has never rusted for me; despite reviews claiming this is inevitable. The one thing I don't particularly like is the spout. It has a plastic casing, but the interior is porcelain so water doesn't touch plastic. That's not the problem, that's great. What IS the problem, is that it falls off all the time because it barely clips in, and the porcelian has broken off the very tip of the outlet. That's kind of cheap and unexpected. As far as taste, it's distilled water so it needs to be remineralized of course. And the spout holds a charcaol filter, which is absolutely necessary to change at least once a month (if using daily). In all, I guess I'm satisfied especially after reading the one star reviews...

9 Years Strong - This Distiller is Built to Last!
I've owned this water distiller since 2016, and after 9 years of consistent use, it's still running perfectly. This thing is an absolute workhorse that has never given me any problems. GAME-CHANGING CLEANING TIP: Forget the citric acid that comes with it - use white vinegar for cleaning. Just put a splash of vinegar in the bottom (add a little water to cover the surface), let it sit for a few hours, and the mineral buildup dissolves. If you get build-up higher up on the walls, use a bit more vinegar, fill the water until the build-up area is covered, and let it sit overnight. This tip makes maintenance incredibly easy and saves you money. Why quality matters: I have a friend who bought a cheaper knockoff version instead of this one. His lasted only 3 years before breaking. Meanwhile, mine has lasted 3x longer and still going. You really do get what you pay for. More Pro Tips: - Stick with H2O Labs brand filters - I've tried knockoffs and they're noticeably inferior - They say to change filters every 60 days but I usually go about 90 before a noticeable taste - Yes, the filters cost money, but compared to other water purification options, they're reasonably priced - Fill line tip: Don't go by the "FULL" indicator exactly. Fill to about halfway up the word "FULL" for a complete carafe without spillover - Lid removal: Hold the unit against your body and peel the lid away like you're pouring from a bowl Bottom line: After 9 years of daily use with zero issues, I can confidently say this distiller is worth every penny. The vinegar cleaning method makes maintenance a breeze, and the build quality ensures you'll be using this for years to come. Highly recommended for anyone serious about clean water. Would I buy again? Absolutely. Would I recommend to friends? Already have (though I tell them to get THIS one, not a knockoff).

NOT SAFE DANGER!!!!!
made my wife sick!!! the stainless steel is rusting after a week. it's made from an inferior grade material not safe for food. Stainless steel is primarily an alloy of iron, with at least 10.5% chromium, which creates its corrosion resistance by forming a passive oxide layer; other key metals like nickel, molybdenum, manganese, and elements like carbon and nitrogen are added to enhance specific properties like strength, toughness, and heat resistance, creating different grades for various application. If it is rusting the stainless steel is contaminated and not to food grade. I can only imagine what other metals that don't oxidize in the presence of oxygen are leaching into the water. you can see the small specs of rust on the inner wall of the distiller after one week of use. It may look small and insignificant, but it is a major sign of contaminants in the stainless steel not food grade.!!!!! I ran the distiller through five cycles before consuming. My wife said something's not right. Migraine nausea, stomach cramps. This is my third distiller I have used the other two for over a decade with no problem.

Stellar Product
This is the first time I am writing a review for an Amazon purchase, but I just had to speak out on the H2O Labs Best-In-Class Stainless Steel Water Distiller we purchased on January 19, 2022. I will admit that this may be one of those lengthy reviews so for those of you with little patience I will say upfront that this is a stellar device. It outperforms any of our expectations and I highly recommend it. OK, for those willing to stick around for the longer version, here we go. We live on a 100 acre farm and over the past 30+ years approximately 7 gas wells have been dug on the property. All but two of those have been capped and sealed. We always wondered if some of the residual petroleum may have leached into the water table. Several years ago, we had our water tested and nothing objectionable was reported. However, when we would leave a glass of water sitting overnight, the next morning there would be a lovely rainbow of oil on the surface. I don’t think it takes an Einstein to know that something wasn’t right. Therefore, we searched for a water distiller. We weren’t prepared to spend a thousand dollars, but we wanted one we could depend on. The Best-In-Class seemed to fit both our pocket and our needs. We couldn’t be more impressed with the water it produces and how well it works. We make approximately 3 gallons of distilled water a day. This keeps us, and our animals and indoor garden, in clean, healthy water. I was a little concerned about keeping it clean, especially after seeing some pictures of heavy sediment left in the bottom. Well, let me tell you, with a minimum of care, it stays clean and smooth. After each production we put approximately 1/3 cup of vinegar in the bottom, let it sit for about 15 minutes, then we go in with a nylon scrub cloth and wash the bottom and sides thoroughly. Every other time we also add a few drops of Dawn dish soap. We rinse it thoroughly after and refill for the next batch. A little thing like plugging the cord in is made even simpler with the little white mark on each cord that tells you when you have them properly seated. They have made it as carefree as possible. We start a batch in the morning, in the mid-afternoon and then at night. I highly recommend the H2O Labs Best-In-Class Stainless Steel Water Distiller for anyone who wants to live a healthier life. If you have had issues with kidney or bladder stones, using distilled water will significantly help you reduce your chanced of getting another one. City water is filled with so many caustic chemicals we would be shocked to know. Even well water is not what we think it is. I truly believe my families health has been made better because of this purchase. Thank you for your patience. You can trust this distiller. UPDATE A YEAR LATER: We loved this distiller until we started having issues with it stopping mid process. We contacted the seller and they said "No problem we will send out a replacement thermal control and that should take care of it." We waited and waited but no replacement part arrived. We placed a second call and was told it was still sitting there and they would send it out. We waited another two weeks and still no replacement part, so called again. This time they finally sent it but replacing the part did not work. Thank goodness we had purchased Asurion insurance so we contacted them and got our money back. The machine is good but don't buy from these folks. The customer service does not exist.

Bought in 2021, Reviewed in 2025
I bought this for my parents as their municipal water had flocculence and a very unpleasant “dirty” taste. They have run two batches per day through this every single day for the past four years. That’s 730 gallons of distilled output. How much would that have cost to buy at the grocery store!?! It still works flawlessly. Each time a cycle completes they spray 5% vinegar (sometimes called pickling vinegar), and let it sit covered for a couple of minutes before wiping clean. The dogs (4), cat, wild birds, and numerous houseplants all drink this water. The electric kettle has never had to be descaled since using this distiller. It was previously cleaned every time it was used, the tap water was so hard. I grew up with a large distiller, then my parents moved off the farm into town. They somehow never got another distiller until this one. TL;DR. Don’t waste, time, effort, and money using reverse osmosis or filter systems. Get a distiller and free yourself from that junk.

Good product
So far very good, little pricy, but worth it, glad I got it 😊, I can taste the difference. Only downside is, the water smell funny, kinda like it's bleached, but non the less, I like the result.
