Dieses Album ist ein Fest für die Fans der beiden Nowgoroder (der jüngere aus Nishni, kleiner Geography Joke).Ich meine, Rachmaninov kann nur von Russen wirklich verstanden und gespielt werden (einzige Ausnahme ist vielleicht Katia Buniatishvili, die ebenfalls ein berauschendes Album für #2 und 3 abgeliefert hat), aber die Kombination mit dem -amerikanischen! - Philadelphia Orchestra und Nezet-Seguin ist glücklich und passt dann auch zu Rachmaninovs Biografie.Der Klang ist superb, seidig und satt.Kleine Überraschung: Die CDs liegen bei wie zufällig in eins der vier Fächer gelegt.Insgesamt also jeden Euro wert, auch gegenüber den beiden Einzel-LPs.

This album is a bargain. Four LP discs, two CDs and a beautiful box - perhaps the most beautifully assembled box set I’ve owned. Let’s talk sonics: I think this pressing is quite good but not top-tier when compared to the high resolution digital versions out there but does bring the vinyl “charm”. It is quiet with no pops and is clear. Recommended.

Trifonov ist vermutlich geboren worden, damit wir Rachmaninov endlich in Vollendung hören können. Eine wundervolle Aufnahme!

I am a vinyl lover and a lover of piano music but, these recordings go above and beyond my expectations. The pianist Trifonov is absolutely stellar. I highly recommend these to any Rachmaninov followers 👍
