Nice gift for new or beginning reader!
This is a very good gift for a child that is just starting to read but they may have some trouble distinguishing between the letters b, d, p, and q and also between the letter V and the greater than and lesser than signs because they all look the same. Otherwise, it's an awesome spelling-aid and my child can already call the words on the 30 double sided cards which is great. They are very colorful and is durable enough if the child is not one to put them in their mouth. I would not recommend for a child younger than three because they are very small and could pose a choking hazard if place in the mouth

letter tiles
The letter tiles are small and came dirty with brownish reside of some sort all over and on the tin but were fine after I wiped every tile individually as well as the tin, I think they will be useful just wish they weren't dirty that's why I knocked off a star I put up some pictures hope they help if you are unsure about these.

Okay for the price
The letters and numbers are magnets on cardboard. It's okay. Not the best quality. The picture cards with words are not magnetic and some words are not appropriate for early learners. Wish they had more cards with sight words or basic words. For example there are cards with "yacht," "subway" and "trophy."

Perfectly small for storage and large enough for chunky hands
These are almost the perfect set...all I had to change was the box, while magnetic, it does not stand and it opens into two pieces. I exchanged it for a dollar tree metal lunch box. That way, they can stand the top like a little board and have the bottom to store their cards and letters. The letters are small but easy enough for my 3-year-old to use and a very small toy metal lunch box was enough to store everything. Also, the magnets are strong.

Basic
Took months to finally come in! Its only missing one tile (1 weather), the tiles have marks all over them and the tin is dented. But it will work fine for educational activities and the colors are bright. Definitely cant get tiles wet, they are mostly cardboard. I do like how thick they are, makes it easier for my son to pick them up.

took forever to get here but the kids are learning
This is good for my preschooler who is learning to read. Very nice game to have to help with learning. I like that it has the tin to keep all the parts together. Doesn't take up much room. the magnets are not super strong, so they can be easily moved on and off. But they do stick to the tin they came in. I think this will be a good thing for him learning.

nice
I should have read the description better. I thought the cards were magnetic also and they are not. The letters are smaller than I thought also, but it will still do what it is designed to do.

Very durable, but it is a little difficult for my daughter to fit all the pieces back in the tin.
