I bought it because I was fed up with straining rice and see loads of grains going to waste because most colanders have large holes, great for pasta and veg but very wasteful when it comes to rice. This colander works a treat for rice, no waste. With regards to size, no issue, I boiled four portions of rice (300g uncooked) and had no issues regarding space. Also this colander has feet so you can stand it in the sink when you use it, it's brilliantly designed. It's very easy to clean also. Money well spend!
