Half Brick Black Tea

Saw a tea brick during a plantation home tour and thought it was a pretty neat part of history. I am a dedicated tea drinker and don't drink coffee. Found this brick on Amazon, delivery was prompt. The brick came with a small sample bag of the tea so you can taste what brick tea would taste like. Tried it and it tasted fine but the full brick with the embossed image is being used as a display item. It is pretty durable and has not shown any sign of chipping or other marks due to handling. I guess as long as it is kept in a relatively dry environment, it should last a very long time. Very please with the purchase and it makes a nice conversation piece.

Beautiful item to put on display, but drinking it is not pleasant at all. Smells and tastes like scummy pond water with a hint of old seaweed. The loose leaf sampler they ship with it makes a few decent cups, but is definitely not the same tea as in the brick. Keep it on your counter for all to see, but buy something else to drink and serve.

A beautiful tea brick. If you haven't seen tea in this form, it's worth it. The tea is a bit bitter if you leave it in too long.

Hard as a rock. You better be like Fred Flintstone to break it up.

For the life of me! It was super cool conceptually, but also made a huge mess. and I had no idea how to use it!!! Should have come with instructions...its a real pity, as I had to throw it away...

This is used in a demonstration of how tea looked in the 17th & 18th century.
