Great little unit
I have had one for a couple of decades, getting great information on factory and reloaded ammunition. I gave this new model to my son-in-law and he and my grandsons are having fun with it. This has been money well spent both times.

slightly awkward, but does what I need
It seems to work quite well. It seems to report accurate velocities for everything I need to test and then some, from 3K+ FPS 5.56x45mm NATO, through subsonic 8.6mm Blackout, all the way down to a BB fired from a Daisy Red Rider lever-action air gun. I discovered that it doesn't work so well with something thrown by a human, though. The design is a bit more awkward to set up and use than the top-end Garmin chronograph, but it's also far cheaper than the Garmin, and I'm fine with that. The lack of Bluetooth connectivity in this model is of no consequence for me; I am capable of writing data into a Rite In The Rain notebook. Competition Electronics does offer a model with Bluetooth support for a bit more, though, so if you feel the need that can evidently be satisfied.

Don’t buy it.
First of all it didn’t come with an instruction manual. I figured no big deal I’ll download it. Went online but they didn’t have a manual for this model. Then I couldn’t get a reading on anything. I tried different lighting with no luck. Finally I set it up and shot my AR over it and noticed I got one reading. I figured it out. You have to shoot within 3 in of the top of it or it won’t read your shot. I wasted so much ammo trying to get muzzle velocity figured out. I could see how you could end up hitting it really easy while trying to get close enough to get a reading. There are better products out there no doubt.

It's simple to use and effective.
This chronograph did exactly what I needed and it was easy to get set up. It's manual is well written and it has a compartment for storing a spare 9V battery. Overall it is better then expected for it's price.

Need to have light or sky to work
It only works well when it can see the sky. At my range they use flashing yellow LED lights to Indicate a cold range. These lights drive the chronograph bat crazy and indicates 9999 as soon as the lights are turned on. The only remedy is to wait for the flashing lights to be turned off, then cycle the chronograph off then on, then reset the chronograph. As for the sky issue, my outdoor range has a roof over the shooting positions and therefor the chronograph can’t see the sky. I’m going to have to purchase the optional light kit. I only mention my range in my comments in case you have the same condition at your range. This is an excellent chronograph. (I have the LTD model)

Understand It’s Relationship to Lighting
Only used twice - mebbee I should have made notes. The instructions ARE specific about what this equipment needs.Let it see sky but keep it in the shade.Outstanding for the price. Shipped as promised and arrived in excellent condition.

Love this chronograph for my reloading
Bought a nice tripod off amazon to go with the chronograph. I believe that to be a better choice than getting a cheap one that comes with some. It’s a great combination and I really enjoy it
